On August 1, 1971, ex-Beatle GEORGE HARRISON
organised a Concert For Bangla Desh.

It raised funds and awareness for victims of
famine and war in the South Asian country.

It took place at New York’s Madison Square Garden with 40,000 attendees.
It marked the very first benefit event. Big names joined Harrison on stage.
Ravi Shankar, Leon Russell, Eric Clapton, Bob Dylan, Billy Preston, members
of Badfinger, former bandmate Ringo Starr and more.

The concert’s album topped the UK chart.
