As a male feminist myself I’m thrilled to see/hear so many girls bands, such as Pins, Dream Nails, Madonnatron, deux furieuses, and several more stepping up in the UK to kick some macho men’s asses. After more than two thousands years of masculine domination, the time is perfectly right for a female revolution with a LOUD & CLEAR rock and roll artillery as its sonic weapon. One of the roaring best of the colorful pack are THE FRANKLYS. A London-based 4-piece mean machine who released boiling debut longplayer ‘Are You Listening’ last May. Who: “After a few full-length records, a few EPs, and a US tour in 2016, ‘Helta Skelta’ are now back with a new 7″. Here, Helta Skelta change things up yet again, never one to let things dull. This 7” sees the band head into a sparser territory, favouring the British and US over the Australian sounds. A much more art rock and post-punk outing this time round whilst still holding on to those aspects of 70s garage punk from previous efforts.”

There are three reasons to play THE BREEDERS on this blue Monday. One: twin sisters Kim and Kelley Deal are the coolest rock ladies ever in my book. Two: the band will tour Europe again this fall with me in the front row at their show in Antwerp as I bought a ticket for the gig last week.
