Yesterday Belgian all-round artist ARNO, with Bob Dylan my all-time favorite singer/songwriter/performer/entertainer ever, passed away following a long
and destructive battle with cancer. He was a bluesman, a rocker, a crooner,
a storyteller, a humanist, a natural born muscician and so much more.
He was born Arnaud Charles Ernest Hintjens 72 years ago in Ostende, the Queen
of the Belgian beach cities, but lived the greater part of his life in Brussels. He started
his career with a band called Freckleface (1 album, in 1972), then teamed-up with his mate Paul Couter for 2 albums as Tjens Couter.
With TC MATIC
The first trip to big commercial success (in Europe) started in 1980 with one of the best Belgian bands ever. TC Matic stood out with their unique post-punk-blues badass sound and Arno howling about everything and nothing.
They fabricated 5 albums (from good to masterpieces Choco and their self-titled debut LP). The band broke up in 1986 and charlatan (the title of his 2nd LP) Arno went solo. He sang in French and English. He made 15 albums and a new one was finished just before he died.
I saw him performing (with former bands/side-projects and countless times a solo artist) more than 100 times (most of all in my home country of Belgium, of course, but also in France and The Netherlands, on festivals and indoors) giving it all on stage, every single time. He was addicted to playing live and I was addicted to seeing him doing it.
A once-in-my-lifetime hero, forever in my heart and my soul.
His greatest hit was/is Oh La La La (C’est Magnifique), a 1981 classic with TC Matic.
He played it at the end of his shows throughtout his solo career. A stone gold fans classic.

(real name: Pamela Rooke) passed away last night.
Her family broke the news with this message…
“Jordan (Pamela Rooke) has left her mark on this planet, whether it be as ‘The Queen of Punk’, or for her veterinary work and countless prize winning cats,” the family continued. “She lived life to the full and was true to herself and others throughout the whole of her life. She was totally trusted and respected by all those who knew her. Jordan was a blessed rare individual indeed. She did not want any speculation regarding her passing, and wished for the world to know that after a short period of illness, she succumbed to a relatively rare form of cancer known as cholangiocarcinoma (bile duct cancer). Jordan was a wonderful woman and will be remembered for countless decades to come,”

Happy 80 To JOHN CALE – One The Most Authentic Musicians/Songwriters And Voices In Rock History

JOHN DAVIES CALE was born on 9 March 1942 in Wales, UK. Happy 80 to one of the most authentic, high-quality singer-songwriters, multi-instrumentalists, avant-garde artists, and affecting voices in rock history. He also made a name as a masterly and adventurous producer (among so many artists he was behind the mix table for masterpieces such as the debut LP of Patti Smith (Horses) and the debut of The Stooges.
Most people know him as the musical innovator and violist of groundbreaking legends
The Velvet Underground alongside that other icon, the late Lou Reed. But, as it always happens, two big egos in a band is one too many.
In 1968, after two VU albums, Cale left and started a formidable solo career. He canned
16 solo albums (so far), with MFans (new versions of songs from his praised 1982 LP Music For A New Society as the most recent one), released in 2016. He collaborated
with countless musicians (a lot with his good friend and equally genial Brian Eno), and
composed multiple scores for movies, and still produced work of others.
In 1990 Cale and Reed found each other again for an ode
to their mentor Andy Warhol with the grand Songs For Drella,
a classic in my Reed/Cale book.
So hard to choose only 3 memorable Cale moments, but here we go…

Already 3 Years Today – R.I.P. KEITH FLINT (The Prodigy)

Keith Charles Flint was born on 17 September 1969 in Redbridge, London.
He started his musical career in 1990 as a dancer for Liam Howlett‘s techno-punk
project The Prodigy. He became the flamboyant co-vocalist in 1996 with the band’s
third LP The Fat Of The Land and the group’s eccentric and heated performer
on stage along with Maxim.
Three years ago today, on 4 March 2019, he took his own life.
Only 49. Sad, really sad. Rest in peace.
