Happy 80 To Rolling Stone BRIAN JONES

28 February 2022

Lewis Brian Hopkin Jones was born on 28 February 1942,
in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, England. He would have
celebrated his 80th birthday today.

Jones was the founder (in 1962) of one of the biggest rock groups ever,
for which he also invented the name (I wonder if there’s anybody on this
planet who has never heard of The Rolling Stones).

He was a multi-instrumentalist, always hungry for new instruments and
also the creative stone who wanted the band to take a more adventurous
way.

Unfortunately, he lost himself in a destructive amount of drugs and alcohol.
He drowned, under the influence of damaging stuff, in his pool in 1969. He
was only 27.

Happy Birthday To Ocean Child YOKO ONO

18 February 2022

YOKO ONO was born as oʊnoʊ (pronounced OH-noh in English and romanized
Ono Yōko), on 18 February 1933), in Tokyo, Japan. Happy 89 to the multimedia and performance artist, singer-songwriter, and peace activist.

For millions of people, she’s only known as John Lennon‘s widow and for being, allegedly, responsible for The Beatles break-up in 1970, although she made 14 solo albums (with the fascinating Warzone LP as the most recent one, released in 2018) and 8 LPs with husband John Lennon.

She received lots of critically praise on a regular basis for her musical exploits and today, on her birthday, several famous artists (David Byrne, Sharon Van Etten, Death Cab For Cutie, The Flaming Lips, Yo La Tengo, and more) pay tribute to Yoko with an album of mesmerizing covers, called Ocean Child: Songs Of Yoko Ono .

Happy 80 To GRAHAM NASH

2 February 2022

Singer-songwriter GRAHAM NASH (also a published photographer) was born in
Blackpool, UK on 2 February 1972, 80 years ago. The golden voice had his greatest successes as a member of CROSBY, STILLS, NASH & YOUNG. But the first time he
came in the picture was with the British ith pop group THE HOLLIES (1963-1968).

After he left the band he moved to Los Angeles. In 1968 CSN started a long and triumphant journey with the masterpiece 1970 Déja Vu (with Neil Young as fourth
member) as their most famous work. During that era and afterward Nash
made several solo LPs.

After his first marriage broke up he had a love/hate relationship with legendary folk songstress Joni Mitchell. Nash wrote Our House on piano, in an hour, at their love
nest, in Hollywood Hills, LA. He’s still active as a solo artist. His most recent longplayer
This Path Tonight came out in 2016. Next month the legend starts a new tour.

R.I.P. MEAT LOAF – “Like A Bat Out Of Hell I’ll Be Gone When The Morning Comes”

21 January 2022

Singer/musician Marvin Lee Aday aka MEATLOAF
was born 74 years ago in Dallas, Texas. Yesterday
evening came the sad news that he passed away.

This statement was published on his Facebook page:

“Our hearts are broken to announce that the incomparable Meat Loaf passed
away tonight with his wife Deborah by his side. Daughters Pearl and Amanda
and close friends have been with him throughout the last 24 hours. His amazing
career spanned 6 decades that saw him sell over 100 Million albums worldwide
and star in over 65 movies, including Fight Club, Focus, Rocky Horror Picture Show
and Wayne’s World.

‘Bat Out of Hell’ remains one of the top 10 selling albums of all time. We know how
much he meant to so many of you and we truly appreciate all of the love and support
as we move through this time of grief in losing such an inspiring artist and beautiful
man. We thank you for your understanding of our need for privacy at this time. From
his heart to your souls…don’t ever stop rocking!” ”

A cause of death is not yet known.

Meat Loaf released 12 albums between 1977 and 2016. His debut Bat Out Of Hell
with its massive blockbuster hit Paradise By The Dashboard Light made him an
instant superstar. His theatrical rock swagger, his appetite for bombastic epicness,
his sturdy appearance, it all made him the worldwide legend he was/is. R.I.P.

Like a bat out of hell I’ll be gone when the morning comes
When the night is over, like a bat out of hell, I’ll be gone, gone, gone
Like a bat out of hell I’ll be gone when the morning comes

Christmas Message From KATE BUSH

25 December 2021

With nearly two years of Covid, are any of us the same people
we were before? It’s left everyone confused and uncertain of the future.

It’s been a terrible time of loss for so many. I want to say a big thank you to all the people on the front line and in the NHS. I have such huge respect for all the nurses and doctors who’ve already been working flat out for nearly two years. These caring people are showing such extraordinary acts of kindness to others. Let’s hope they get the pay rises they rightly deserve.

I’d like to mention something that happened a few weeks ago on a walk; stopping to look
at the view, I noticed something moving in a tree right beside me. It was a Goldcrest – the smallest bird in Europe, even smaller than a wren. I stood still, hoping not to frighten it away.

Its colouring is beautiful – a peacock’s eye on each wing and a striking yellow streak on its tiny head. This gorgeous little ball of fluff flew away after ten minutes or so. I’ve only ever seen one once before and very briefly. It made my day. In these strange times, I really hope you can get the chance to stop for a moment and feel nature around you.

Please stay safe. Wishing you a restful Christmas
and hoping 2022 is a happier year for everyone.

With love”

Happy 75 To LUX INTERIOR!

21 October 2021

Erick Lee Purkhiser, better known as Lux Interior (he took his artist name from
a car advertisement), the psycho-billy frontman of clash and crash punks THE CRAMPS
was born on 21 October 1946 in Akron, Ohio. Happy 75 to one of the most charismatic
live performers in rock history.

He met his sexy muse, guitar soulmate, and future wife Poison Ivy (born Kristy Marlana Wallace) in 1972 and they started their garage trash combo The Cramps in 1976. The band released 8 studio albums between 1980 and 2003. The end came when Interior passed away in 2009 due to an aortic dissection. He was only 62.

Happy B. wherever you are…
