Now Watching -The Early Years Of BOB DYLAN In A Series Of Dreams

For our eyes

I was thinking of a series of dreams
Where nothing comes up to the top.
Everything stays down where it’s wounded
And comes to a permanent stop.

The song was planned to be on his 1989 praised album Oh Mercy, but the wayward
mister Zimmerman dropped it, before the release, for unknown reasons. Eventually,
this diamond ended up on The Bootleg Series Volumes 1–3.

Now Watching! New FOALS Video For New Funky Cut ‘LOOKING HIGH’

Eye-catching video clips

British funky rockers FOALS launch their
7th LP LIFE IS YOURS on 17th June.

And here’s a new taster off that album.

Yannis Philippakis (frontman/songwriter)about LOOKING HIGH: “This is looking back to a more hedonistic time in my life, and a more innocent time in society in general, pre-pandemic and before the existential threat of climate change,” Yannis Philippakis says. “It takes place in an alley in Oxford with two clubs – The Cellar and The Wheatsheaf – that all the city’s nightlife gravitated towards. It was before clubs started to close down and our cities started to change into more corporate, arid places. There’s an element of being haunted by nightlife that’s no longer there.”

Funk it up, folks…

Ukrainian Animator Visualises Notable Single ‘THE HURT WITHIN’ By Welsh Indie Trio HOLY COVES

Eye-catching video clips

3 April 2022

Welsh indie trio HOLY COVES led by singer-songwriter Scott Marsden released their notable new single THE HURT WITHIN last month through Yr Wyddfa Records (one
of Turn Up the Volume‘s 20 best Knockouts of March 2022).

Turn Up The Volume wrote: “This impassioned hard-luck story grows slowly but surely
into a soul-stirring and mesmerising heartbreaker with an epic finale. Glowing guitars, a
steady drumbeat, and mixed emotions vocals all come together for a poignant performance. ‘Love Is Cruel / The Hurt Within’. You can feel it.”

To visualise the song Holy Coves engaged acclaimed Ukrainian animator and filmmaker Taras Merenkov. He really pulled off an animated tour de force. A visual masterstroke.

Eye-boggling…

NOW WATCHING! U2 On A Roof This Day In 1987

27 March 2022

Irish heroes U2 went on a roof in LA to perform WHERE THE STREETS HAVE NO NAME (from their blockbuster LP The Joshua Three) this day in 1987, probably inspired by the legendary roof showing of the Fab Fourin 1969.

Thousands of people danced in the nameless streets and traffic was blocked. The police got scared of this situation and stopped the spectacle a few minutes after Bono turned up the heat in the City of Angels.

C’mon, Bono

Who’s That Girl? Italian Popsters THE BANKROBBER Drop Video For Newest Single ‘LEASH DIED (SHOULDN’T CRY)’

For your ears and eyes

11 January 2022

Band: THE BANKROBBER
Who: Italian alt-pop band led by
siblings Giacomo and Maddalena Oberti

The tandem revealed their newest single LEASH DIED (SHOULDN’T CRY)
last month. A first taster from their forthcoming, second, album titled
Lighters and Lovers

Turn Up The Volume wrote: The Italian band follows their intimate and tender
ballad Carry Me On with this new emotive reflection. But this shadowy dream is
more upbeat and lively although with a dark twist when a distorted ghost-like
voice takes over on the chorus. I’m pretty sure Tame Impala will like this.

As usual The Bankrobber visualize their songs with eye-catching videos.
Here’s the colors-filled clip for the new one, starring a young enigmatic
beauty. Eurythmics‘s Annie Lennox would sing ‘Who’s That Girl?‘.

Have a look, ladies and gents…
