Happy 58 To BJÖRK Who Shared Previously Unreleased And Now Recycled Song Titled ‘ORAL’ Today

21 November 2023

Iceland‘s musical elf Björk, full name Björk Guðmundsdóttir , was born in Reykjavik
on 21 November 1965. Happy 58 to a singular artist whose work got more and
more adventurous and innovative over the years, sonically as well as visually with
her spectacular artwork, outfits and videos.

Oral artwork

Today (not a coincidence I guess) she dropped a song named ORAL. It’s actually a previously unreleased 25-year-old song of hers, performed with famous songstress Rosalia.

Bjôrk announced the news yesterday on her social media.

BJÖRK And ROSALIA – 75 Seconds Of A Cappella Beauty For Helping The Fight Fish Farming In Iceland.”

8 October 2023

BJÖRK and ROSALIA have teamed up for a song, of which all proceeds – official version comes later this month – will help to pay the legal fees of people in Seyðisfjörður who are protesting against the new fish farm in their area.

For now you can only listen to the song on YouTube.

It has no title (yet). It’s announced as
“help fight fish farming in iceland.”

Björk shared this statement along with the song.

I am offering a song me and Rosalia sang together
the profits will to help the fight against fish farming in Iceland,
people at the fjord seyðisfjörður have stood up and protested
against fish farming starting there

we would like to donate sales of the song to help with their legal fees
and hopefully it can be an exemplary case for others, Iceland has the
biggest untouched nature in Europe and still today it has it´s sheep
roaming free in the mountains in the summers
.

It´s fish has swum free in our lakes , rivers and fjords
so when icelandic and norwegian business men started buying fish
farms in the majority of our fjords, it was a big shock and rose up
as the main topic this summer, we don´t understand how they had been
able to do this for a decade with almost no regulations stopping them.

This has already had devastating effect on wildlife and the farmed fish are
suffering in horrid health conditions and since a lot of them have escaped,
they have started changing the DNA in the icelandic salmon to the worse
and could eventually lead to its extinction.

There is still a chance to safe the last wild salmon of the north
our group would like to dare these business men to retract their farms
we would also like to help invent and set strict regulations into Iceland´s
legal system to guard nature.

The majority of the nation already agrees with us
so this protest is about putting the will of the people
into our rule-systems.

75 seconds of a cappella beauty.

BJÖRK In The Sky With Diamonds And 864 Drones At COACHELLA FESTIVAL

17 April 2023

Artwork of her latest album ‘Fosora’

Last night Iceland‘s fairy tale queen Björk performed at the Coachella Festival (weekend 1). Her shows (and herself) have been visual spectacles for some years now. But I wonder if she will ever top what she accomplished yesterday by having 864 drones floating like diamonds in the sky above the stage at one point. After the wondrous event, she posted this message on her socials.

Here’s a short impression of what happened.

VIDEO OF THE MONTH – Fairy Tale Star BJÖRK With Spectacular Clip For The Title Track Of Her Latest Album ‘FOSSORA’

30 March 2023

Album artwork

Fairy tale star BJÖRK released her 10th
album, named FOSSORA last October.

The Iceland celebrity described the new
longplayer as a look at normal daily life.

“Let’s see what it’s like when you walk into this fantasy and, you know,
have a lunch and farrrrt and do normal things, like meet your friends.”

To my ears, the overall sound of the LP isn’t one you hear every day unless
you are a fanatic Björk fan, but it fits flawlessly in her by now imposing catalog.

The new clip she shared for the title track seduced my eyes on the spot. Actually
the best I saw this month. Also one of the best tracks on the album. A flabbergasting
piece of visionary music that starts as a frolic sequence from a lighthearted and brightly colored musical with Björk‘s flamboyant presence and singular vox center-stage. But around the 3-minute mark industrial shock waves work their way up front until the end. Formidable!

The clip is directed by herself, Viðar Logi, M/M (Paris) and Futuredeluxe.

As usual, a visual spectacle.

Roll the tape.

Iceland’s Musical Nymph BJÖRK Shares Volcanic Video For ‘SORROWFUL SOIL’

4 December 2022

Iceland’s musical nymph BJÖRK released her, critically
lauded ,10th longplayer, named FOSSORA last September.

For SORROWFUL SOIL, one of the LP’s highlights she just shared
a video clip, directed by Viðar Logi, in which Björk is traveling to
Fagradalsfjall, a recently erupted Icelandic volcano.

Björk: “Sorrowful soil is a song I wrote from random improvisations.
I kinda thought I was writing another song but then when I edited it
I threw away most of the stuff and this is what stood there staring at
me. Sorrowful Soil and Ancestress are 2 songs written for my mother.

The Big NME Interview With BJÖRK Who Has Her New Album ‘FOSSORA’ Out

1 October 2022

Iceland’s heroine BJÖRK released her new,
10th album, named FOSSORA yesterday.

British legendary music magazine NME (New Musical Express) had a weekly
issue until about 6 years ago, and still continues to be a very informative source
for music (and more stuff, like movies, games, books) talked to Björk about her
new record and lots of other things.

5 Quotes

“It’s very much a ‘sit by the fireplace and have a drink
with friends in your living room’ sort of album.”

“I had a really complicated relationship with the US:
the mass murders, the racial violence, Trump.”

“Gen Z-ers are really radical, and I’m relieved
that the environment is a priority for them.”

“I was always quite offended by the way Kate Bush was
written about like she was a crazy witch – or me being
a crazy elf.”

“I’ve written all my scores for 20 years, you know. I’m not bragging,
I’m just saying that because people still want me to be a naive elf.
If we were guys, we would be taken more seriously.”

BJÖRK Shares New Track ‘OVULE’ Along With A Showy (As Usual) Video Cllip

15 September 2022

Artwork new album

The fairytale heroine BJÖRK will launch her
her new – 10th – solo LP Fossora in two weeks,
on 30 September.

The Iceland celebrity describes the new album as a look at normal daily life.
“Let’s see what it’s like when you walk into this fantasy and, you know, have
a lunch and farrrrt and do normal things, like meet your friends.”

Following lead single Atopos we get a second new piece titled OVULE

Björk: “It is a meditation about us as lovers walking around this world and I imagine
2 spheres or satellites following us around. One above us that represents ideal love, one
below us representing the shadows of love and we ourselves walk around in the third
sphere of real love, where the everyday monday-morning meet-in-the-kitchen-love lives in.”

It’s a love song, the Björk way that is,
accompanied (as usual) by a showy video clip.
