Aussie riff maniacs AC/DC are back with their 17th ball-breaker
titled POWER UP. Mindless boogie-woogie havoc.
Perfect to kick this Monday in the ass.
Get your dusty short schoolboy trousers out of the closet, take
the highway to hell and salute everybody who wants to rock.
Whole lotta rock ‘n’ roll pollution

Last Saturday, just a few hours after the election of Joe Biden, his supporter DAVE GROHL and FOO FIGHTERS premiered their brand new single SHAME SHAME on the famous Saturday Night Live TV show. Watch/listen here.
They also played a passionate and fired up version of one of their massive hits TIMES LIKE THESE. Their way to express their hope for a new, better future. Awesome song to start this new week.
It’s times like these you learn to live again
It’s times like these you give and give again
It’s times like these you learn to love again
It’s times like these time and time again…

Los Angeles’ post-punk hit team CUFFED UP knocked heavily on the gates
of noise rock last year with double A-side single Mother + SmallTown Kid.
And like many other American musicians, they also shout and scream to encourage
the people to come out and vote. They do it with a fitting, sharp-knife-cutting cover of ‘POLITICIANS IN MY EYES’ by 70s proto-punk band Death. A track originally recorded
in 1975, but released in 2009.
“At the time it was released, ‘Politicians in my Eyes’ was a challenge to the government
in place who were sending young racially diverse kids into a war they never wanted. We
covered the song because it runs parallel with our disgust and mistrust of everything the
current government administration has done and stands for. says the band.
Get ready for a rip-roaring wave of ravage riffs backed by a stormy beat,
a flaring male/female duet chorus, and an extended magnetizing guitar outro.
FUCKING #VOTE LIKE THE COUNTRY’S DEMOCRACY DEPENDS ON IT (WHICH IT DOES) is the band’s loud and clear message. Time to vote that hate-preaching Trump bully out!
Turn up the decibels…

Last Saturday bluesman-at-heart played JACK WHITE
on American TV show Saturday Night Live.
He performed a perfervid firework medley of ‘Ball and Biscuit’,
‘Don’t Hurt Yourself’, ‘Jesus Is Coming Soon’ and the title track of
his 2014 album Lazaretto which he performed with an Eddie Van
Halen who passed away last Tuesday, only 65.
Jack White said: “I thought it could be a nice gesture for me to use this blue
Eddie Van Halen model guitar that was designed by Eddie. He was very kind to me
and saw to it that this guitar was made for me to my specs. I won’t even insult the
man’s talent by trying to play one of his songs tonight. Thanks again Eddie for
this guitar and rest in peace sir.”
Hit it, Jack…

MARK PYJAMA is a Cape Town based centipede who’s mixing and producing music for artists, video games, and films. He develops audio plugins and writes his own breed of heavy metal.
With his PYJAMA PLANET project he just unleashed a new king-sized instrumental piece called THE PRELUDE (feat. Kris Xenopoulos from Vulvodunia). It’s the first single from his upcoming album MADJENTA.
Mark states that “This song has been 3 years in the making. It was a journey. The song developed as I did as a person over these years, and it was my rock when I needed creative escapism!”
After a short, frolicsome classical music intro with strings and piano all hell breaks loose. Layers of rollicking guitars and slam-bang drums flood you like a tsunami at supersonic speed with a gigantic resonance. Mind you, it’s not about making just noise.
Definitely not, Pyjama Planet sounds like a symphonic orchestra – a blasting one – with classical structures and violins and piano sequences popping up now and then. It’s prog-rock metal with euphonious textures and Mark Pyjama as composer and conductor.

Last Friday metallic power-rockers DEFTONES
unleashed their ninth longplayer OHMS.
One of the deafening highlights is the opening track
ERROR. A slow-burning brain-breaker. A raucous wallop.
Perfect to kick this Monday in the face. Between the eyes!

These Belgian garage rock motherrockers not only look scary but they also sound scary.
These are a bunch of deranged gunslingers you don’t want to meet in the dark and by the day it’s better to keep a large social distance from them.
The 4-headed bulldozer’s new ass-kicking jackhammer GETTING THE VIBES is a nasty piece of mental exorcism sounding like sonic sex. Oh yeah, this Molotov cocktail’s heated intensity and prurience appetite grows monstrously along its volcanic course until the orgiastic finale hits you in the balls. Get it? Arrrrrrrrghhhhhhhhh! Run and hide before the vibe crushes you.
Go go gol…

Weekly firework to kick Blue Mondays in the ass…
There are three reasons to play THE BREEDERS on this blue Monday. One: twin sisters Kim and Kelley Deal are the coolest rock ladies ever in my book. Two: the band will tour Europe again this fall with me in the front row at their show in Antwerp as I bought a ticket for the gig last week. Three: my ears actually don’t need a specific reason to get spoilt by this brill gang. It’s sonic firework I can listen to any day of the week. Let’s roll some cannonballs…
