Metal giants METALLICA headlined their third consecutive Helping Hands Concert & Auction event, benefiting their own All Within Hands foundation. It supports local food banks
while on tour by donating a portion of every ticket sold
at concerts.
It all happened in Los Angeles where the band started their set
with five acoustic songs, including a cover of the 1976 piece
Borderline (from the Johhny The Fox LP) by Irish rock legends Thin Lizzy.
Welsh icons MANIC STREET PREACHERS covered several songs/artists in the
past (The Cure, Guns ‘n Roses, Small faces, Echo and The Bunnymen, and more).
Last March they played another of their fav songs – Madonna‘s 1984 hit Borderline
live for the 1st time. They love it so much that they went soon after to the studio to
record it.
Have a listen…

The Manics added the recorded version of the cover to their Coversplaylist on Spotify.
Although Aussie popsters TAME IMPALA haven’t announced a new album yet they shared last month new track Patience, a feather-light feel-good vibe. And today they dropped another new similar one. BORDERLINE also has a trippy disco rhythm. From psychedelia to dreamy dance.

DEFINITION of POP MUSIC “Songs with a good rhythm, a catchy melody, and are easy to remember and sing along to. They usually have a chorus that’s repeated several times and two or more verses. Most pop songs are between two and five minutes long, and the lyrics are usually about the joys and problems of love and relationships.” – Definition provided by English Club Website.
DEFINITION of CHARISMA “A special power that some people have naturally that makes them able to influence other people and attract their attention and admiration” – definition provided by Cambridge Dictionary
CHARISMATIC POP BAND according to TURN UP THE VOLUME!
A group of inventive musicians with a bag full of sticky tunes, addictive melodies and hum/sing-along choruses. A team of musicians turning accessible songs into irresistible earworms. A band fronted by a glamorous singer/bassist assisted sonically by a big-time banging drummer and a scintillating duo of exhilarating guitarists producing contagious electricity. You want an example? Well, here we go, folks. Yesterday night Belgian quartet The Spectors matched my charismatic-pop-band-definition just perfectly. Why? Here’s
a first why for starters… Borderline, the sparkling single from their new album, which should actually be a hit in a world not dominated by corporate record label sharks licking the asses of corporate radios who’s ONLY reason of existence is scoring huge listening rates, therefore they need corporate shit music, unlike this shoegazy indie pop pearl…
I’m sure I’ve made my point, but to convince also those four stubborn doubters,
hiding there in the back behind that lousy, new Editors LP, here’s The Spectors‘
new album OOH AAH AAH in full…
Striking video’s that will impress your eyes and your ears…
9 February 2018
2018 is a key year for Belgium‘s daydreamers THE SPECTORS fronted by the utterly charismatic Marieke. At the end of next month the band will release their debut album titled somehow orgastically ‘OOH AAH AAH’. Until then you can go eight miles high with the first track/clip ‘BORDERLINE‘. Not easy to write a song about such a confusing and
soul harming mental disorder (I know, I’m very familiar with it), but the band deals with
it perfectly, even with a grin on this line ‘London is a bitch, the same shit is here to bite me
in the ass’ Sonically this shiny spark sounds like a multi-guitar layered pop rainbow that
will activate your ears, eyes and hungry mind. Powerful, melodic and sticky as glue. Enter The Spectors psychedelic phantasy right here…
