Soul II Soul – OFFWORLD With Groovy Symphony ‘BURNT OUT STAR’ From Upcoming Album…
3 June 2020
RICHARD ARCHER, frontman of British angry rockers HARD-FI launched his new project called OFFWORLD with gripping soul voice Krysten Cummings last February with cutting, outspoken debut single Brave To Be Alive.
Here’s the second piece of the upcoming album. ‘BURNT OUT STAR’ continues OffWorld‘s crystal clear political vision on our messed-up world. Sonically, it’s a mighty funky groove but alternating, heartbroken vocals and agonized sentiments dominate this Soul II Soul like symphony, while a sizzling saxophone reflects a strange kind of feel of melancholic hope.
Archer spoke to NME about the track: “I can just remember coming downstairs and seeing that breaking news notification on my phone – first it was Brexit and then Trump. It felt like the bullshitters were getting away with it, and you’d see the upturn in people thinking they could say or do what they wanted. Suddenly, it was like, what happened to this country?
Feel the confusion right here…
