Video: “The clip shows the band playing in an audition in a high school gymnasium, with different light filters changing the color of the room. Karen O’s crying in the video was not staged. She explains: “They were real tears. My boyfriend at the time (Angus Andrew) was supposed to come to the shoot – he was three hours late and I was just about to leave for tour. I didn’t think he was even going to come and this was the song that was written for him. He eventually showed up and I got myself in a real emotional state.”

THE POP GROUP With Post Punk Classic ‘SHE’S BEYOND GOOD AND EVIL’ (1979)

Last Saturday the sad news of the passing of 62-year old MARK STEWART
best known as the astounding frontman of experimental post-punk band
THE POP GROUP from Bristol who hit the scene back 1977. He also recorded
multiple albums solo and collaborated with lots of other artists.

Their innovative, mercurial, and left politics-infused
debut LP Y is still regarded as a classic album of the era.

The album’s wilful single SHE IS BEYOND GOOD AND EVIL
(more than 1 million streams on Spotify) is one of their
unforgettable exploits.

It was a non-album track.

The song was written by the band’s general Andrew Eldritch. It was the fifth SOM single. Despite the fact that Temple Of Love became a classic corker in Goth-rock it did not chart on the UK’s main singles chart, but it reached number one for a week on the UK Indie Chart and stayed on the chart for 36 weeks.
