There are so many Leonard Cohen tribute albums already around and another one is
coming up on 11 November via the iconic jazz label Blue Note (in business since 1939).

Here It Is: A Tribute To Leonard Cohen will feature covers of 12 of his countless pearls performed by artists such as Peter Gabriel, Iggy Pop, James Taylor and Mavis Staples.

Here is the song that inspired the new tribute album’s title.

New Album Of Old MARIANNE FAITHFULL Songs Lands In September

Record label UMC announced in a press statement
details of a new MARIANNE FAITHFULL.

SONGS OF INNOCENCE AND EXPERIENCE 1965-1995 is the definitive overview
of the first 30 years of Marianne Faithfull’s recording career on the Decca and
Island labels. The 2 LP/2 CD formats land on 16th September.

This collection features all of Marianne’s notable singles, which are often represented in collectible 12” and 7” versions. Particularly rare is the original issue of her final Decca 7” ‘Something Better’ / ‘Sister Morphine’; subsequent releases used different masters, but
these original recordings have been unavailable since 1969.

Further unreleased tracks are live versions of ‘Brain Drain’ and ‘The Boulevard of Broken Dreams’ recorded during Marianne’s now legendary performance at St Anne’s in Brooklyn, highlights of which were released on the 1990 album Blazing Away. This collection also includes 2 previously unheard songs; a traditional blues ballad ‘I’m In Love Again’ cut during the Strange Weather sessions in 1987 and ‘The Calm Before the Storm’ written by Lou Reed and Rubén Blades which Marianne recorded for an abandoned studio album in 1989.

The title Songs of Innocence and Experience acknowledges Marianne’s poetic influences with its reference to the work by William Blake, whilst also reflecting the change in style from the orchestral folk-pop and high pure voice of Marianne’s ‘60s career to her new wave punk influenced comeback at the end of the 70s with Broken English which featured her now trademark fractured vocals.

The front cover features a hand-drawn pencil image by Lithuanian artist Aistė Stancikaitė, commissioned exclusively for the project and the packaging also contains many rare and unseen images taken from the original album and single photo shoots.
The collection has been remastered from the original tapes by the Grammy-nominated compiler Andrew Batt, who also contributes sleeve notes.

From 19 to 23 September 1979 No Nukes: The Muse Concerts for
a Non-Nuclear Future were organized in Madison Square Garden in
New York City. Jackson Browne, Graham Nash, Bonnie Raitt, and John Hall
were the key artists behind the massive event. One of the biggest acts
was Bruce Springsteen And The E-Street Band. A new DVD/Blu-Ray
and two vinyl LPs of The Boss performances will arrive in November.

“The Legendary 1979 No Nukes Concerts” represent the highest quality and
best recorded Bruce performances from an explosive, ascendant and rarely
filmed era of the E Street Band. The film will be released in HD on physical
formats on November 19, including on two CDs with DVD, two CDs with Blu-
Ray, and two LP formats. Available globally in HD for digital download on
November 16 and digital rental on November 23.

Info: ‘Y in Dub’ is a 9-track collection of heavyweight dub versions that match the
prodigious intensity of their source material. The release reflects the enterprising
originality of the dub and reggae music that inspired The Pop Group, as well as the
legendary ingenuity of their longstanding collaborator Dennis Bovell, recently awarded
an MBE for his services to music, might we add… The original material is submerged and prolonged, shattered, splintered, and sculpted into turbulent, contrasting forms which
deviate from the original tracks in compelling, unexpected ways.

Release: Via Mute on CD and digitally on October 29th, 2021, with the vinyl release
set to follow at a later date due to ongoing worldwide production issues with vinyl.
