TOYAH & FRIPP With Some Help From Mr. Brightside CHESNEY HAWKES

Just when you think that TOYAH & FRIPP can’t top their most hilarious
moments anymore, the fabulous YouTube stars come up with this new
Sunday Lunchperformance that made me burst out laughing.

This week the lovers picked Mr. Brightside, the ace debut
single by Los Angeles’ glam pop darlings THE KILLERS.

And they let British mega idol Chesney Hawkes do the signing
so they both could concentrate on moving in mysterious ways.
You bloody clowns!

Roll the tape.

A truly stirring and affected version.

Goosebumps – Manchester Collective SYLVETTE Cover Heavyhearted NIN Musing

17 September 2022

Band: SYLVETTE
Who: Manchester five-piece Sylvette, formed 6 years ago. They have built a cult fan base around the country with their dynamic blend of emotive art-rock and Kafkaesque lyrics. Describing themselves as “Björk meets Black Midi, Nine Inch Nails and Black Country New Road”, the band’s name is inspired by the enchanting muse who appears in many of Picasso’s famous paintings.

They’re ready to go on the road. But first, their goosebumps cover of RIGHT WHERE
IT BELONGS
, a pearl of a ballad by Nine Inch Nails (from their 2005 With Teeth LP).

“”Right Where It Belongs’ is the first cover we’ve ever played together that really felt like we made it our own. The song is about questioning your reality and how going through change
and trauma can distort the way you perceive yourself. It really felt appropriate for the theme
of our upcoming album ‘Single Thread’, so we made it the closing track on the record.”

Whereas mastermind Trent Reznor‘s performance is eerie Sylvette‘s take resonates fragile, sending shivers down your spine. like Sigur Ros does so wonderfully. I’m sure Reznor will like it.

Tune in.

Metalheads HEARTS & HAND GRENADES Hit Hard On Cover Of RAG’n’BONE MAN Blockbuster Hit ‘HUMAN’

23 August 2022

Artist: HEARTS & HAND GRENADES
Who: Towering American hard rock group from Buffalo, NY
fronted by Stephanie Wlosinski on lead vocals and bass guitar.

These thunder and lighting metalheads have guts. Covering Rage’n’Bone Man‘s
global 2017 blockbuster hit Human (more than 715 million streams on Spotify)
isn’t without risk, but they nail it with their speed-up, cast-iron, and riff-insane take.
A totally different beast. A hammer blow with a grenade explosion impact.

I’m sure a duet of Rag’n’Bone‘s killer voice and the titanic pipes
of frontwoman Stephanie Wlosinski‘s would shock the world.

Metal junks are human too…

COVER OF THE WEEK – Graceful TOYAH And Her Rhythm Slaves

19 August 2022

TOYAH and ROBERT FRIPP do not need an introduction whatsoever anymore,
if you ask me (also if you don’t ask me). Both had/have notable successful careers
and both together have their Sunday lunch on YouTube, every week for more
than two years now.

About 2 months ago the lovebirds picked Grace Jones‘s giant 1985 hit
Slave to the Rhythm to entertain us with it on the laziest day of the week.

Recently T & R recorded their cover of that soulful pearl, fully orchestrated,
as a new Toyah single, and shared an accompanying video so you can join
sexy Toyah for a little dance to this sensuous interpretation with her seductive
posh pop voice as the star in the middle and the trippy guitars of King Robert
and Simon Darlow on the sides, left and right. They’re rhythm slaves to Toyah.

Sway
your hips, ladies, and gents.

And more TOYAH news.

Remastered and expanded editions of her Gold-selling album
Anthem (which turned 20 years last year) will be launched on
9 September.

Bo Diddley would do it!
