Waking Up With Legendary Guitarist NILS LOFGREN And CRAZY HORSE

Works faster than caffeine

To be honest, I lost track of how many albums NEIL YOUNG, new and old,
live LPs from his Archives, solo or with CRAZY HORSE released the past
few years.

What I do know is that another one with Crazy Horse is coming up.
It’s named ALL ROADS LEAD HOME and lands on 31 March.

It features the original horses Ralph Molina, Billy Talbot and Nils Lofgren.
Each member wrote three songs with different musicians, except Neil.

It all started as a pandemic project for CH. Young was brought on board
later, his sole writing credit being a live solo version of “Song Of The Seasons”,
from the 2021 Crazy Horse album Barn.

1. “Rain” (Billy Talbot)
2. “You Will Never Know” (Nils Lofgren)
3. “It’s Magical” (Ralph Molina)
4. “Song Of The Seasons” (Neil Young)
5. “Cherish” (Billy Talbot)
6. “Fill My Cup” (Nils Lofgren)
7. “Look Through The Eyes Of Your Heart” (Ralph Molina)
8. “The Hunter” (Billy Talbot)
9. “Go With Me” (Nils Lofgren)
10. “Just For You” (Ralph Molina)

The first taster is a song written and sung by legendary guitarist
NILS LOFGREN
who also played for several years with Springsteen’s
E-Street Band
and released multiple solo albums.

Young Nils

YOU WILL NEVER KNOW is an easy-going,
electrical, retro country rocker.

Still Rockin’ In The Free World – Another NEIL YOUNG Live Album ‘WAY DOWN IN THE RUST BUCKET’ Out Now

18 March 2021

Living legend NEIL YOUNG released another live album and concert film, titled
WAY DOWN IN THE RUST BUCKET a few weeks ago. From a 1990 concert with
Crazy Horse in Santa Cruz, California after his 18th LP Ragged Glory appeared.

Who needs another Neil Young live longplayer? Well nobody, but as he is one of
my all-time favorite singer/songwriters/rockers in the free world, it’s fun to hear
a set of great songs played live – at a high-quality level – for the first time.

Pitchfork says: “This joyous live document flips the energy of 1991’s Weld on its head, swapping out incendiary arena rockers for oddball picks and warm, woolly vibes… For a
dirty, grungy rock’n’roll band, there’s no better place to hold communion than the local
pub, where the separation between artist and audience can be so thin, it may as well be nonexistent. Maybe that’s why Way Down in the Rust Bucket feels so transcendent:
It captures the world’s greatest bar band in their spiritual home.”

Full review here. Score: 8/10.

The special issue contains a 4xLP box set, a 2xCD set and a deluxe edition
box set, with the latter format including a DVD, four LPs, and two CDS.
A digital release is also coming via the official Neil Young Archives site.

NEIL YOUNG Charms With Previously Unreleased Song ‘WONDERIN’…

Reveries for the laziest day of the week

Lately NEIL YOUNG has entertained us with old music from his inexhaustible Archives.

Last month his masterpiece AFTER THE GOLDRUSH turned 50. And an anniversary
edition featuring outtakes and unreleased tracks from the era was released to celebrate the event.

One of the previously unreleased tracks is the original Crazy Horse version of
WONDERIN’ which he played on tour in 1970 but never officially released until
1983’s Everybody’s Rockin‘.

Listen here to the charming version…

And here the doo-wop version from
the Everybody’s Rockin LP…
