On his most live-sounding record in years, he finds clarity when language recedes and the music takes over… Bejar has always been a cryptic songwriter, but on Labyrinthitis he seems intent on piling on associations until they reach beyond meaning itself… Listening to Labyrinthitis feels like how it might feel to be a Thomas Pynchon character: journeying circuitously toward a goal you can’t quite apprehend, accosted by signs and symbols that may be of world-historical importance if they don’t turn out to be nonsense, haunted and comforted by the intuition that all this could easily be a big joke.” Full review here. Bejar: “I had an idea of writing a couple lines on the idea of ‘mystery’ and ‘going
nowhere,’ as they are two of my favorite themes. Also wanted to write on the romance
of terror.”
I’m not really sure why this new piece is for medieval Venetian painter Tintoretto.
Anyway, the track is a wayward, yet groovy tune with lively piano play, some horns
in the end, and Bejar intimidating voice rolling over the vibey beats. Weird as ever.

will launch their 12th album, called HAVE WE MET in January 2020. Here’s the lead single, titled CRIMSON TIDE. A characteristic, surreal tale by Bejar. The accompanying clip is as mysterious as the song itself.

Singer-songwriter and guitarist LILLIE WEST aka LALA LALA – originally from London, based in Chicago – will release her sophomore LP, titled THE LAMB, on 28 September.
The songs were “written during a time of intense paranoia after a home invasion, deaths of loved ones and general violence around me and my friends” reveals West. Ahead of the new longplayer leadoff single DESTROYER is just launched. An emotionally charged reflection on self-destructiveness and the delayed realization something in the past has irrevocably hurt you. Your auditory attention is drawn instantly. The infectious swagger of the verses and the glowing chorus turn this song into a sonic masterstroke. Combined with the heavy-hearted story Lala Lala shares something really gripping.
