Just Have Some Fucking Emphaty – London’s Trio DREAM WIFE Explode On New Belter ‘LEECH’
Works faster than caffeine
11 November 2022
So far London’s utterly outspoken female trio DREAM WIFE gained thousands of
fans with two albums. So When You Gonna… (2020) and the eponymous debut
of 2018.
Their back in town now with a new clamorous belter titled LEECH from 2018.
About: “‘It’s an anthem for empathy. For solidarity. Musically tense and withheld, erupting
to angry cathartic crescendos. The push and pull of the song lyrically and musically expands and contracts, stating and calling out the double standards of power. Nobody really wins in a patriarchal society. We all lose. We could all use more empathy. As our first song to be released in a while, we wanted to write something that feels like letting an animal out of a cage. It’s out. And it’s out for blood…”
Leech is one of the most explosive pop-punk attacks I heard all year.
On the fulminating chorus, the three Amazons scream in your face with
angry grinta and bursting hysterics.
Oh my, oh my. I love their don’t mess with us attitude.
I love their unbridled Riot Grrl guts. Dream Wife rule again.
Just have some fucking empathy
Just have some fucking empathy
The leech is out for blood
The leech is out for blood
The leech is out for blood
They won’t stop won’t stop til they get every drop
Yeeeaaah!

Power To DREAM WIFE – Second Album ‘SO WHEN YOU GONNA…’ Hits The Bull’s Eye
12 July 2020
Band: Dream Wife
Who: Three awesomely cool Riot grrrls from London making your heart going boom and your adrenalin going bonkers with a firework melting pot of punk, rock and pop!
Released: 10 July 2020 – second longplayer
The Guardian says: “Dream Wife are a very modern rock band: they sing about queer
love, miscarriage and misogyny; they work with an all-female recording team; and they have
a podcast. And yet the London-based trio’s music recalls lost nights at midweek indie clubs
and Karen O’s fingerless gloves. The follow-up to their self-titled 2018 debut continues to blend 2000s guitar bands with yelping riot grrrl while sounding surprisingly new, stripping back their earlier post-punk atmospherics to bring Icelandic singer Rakel Mjöll’s storytelling to the fore… They career through a wide range of moods – coquettish, horny, craving approval, irony – with
a zeal you rarely hear in other bands. Occasionally those stories can come across as a little juvenile, but where they lack finesse (and, indeed, it’s great to hear a punk band that still
sounds like one, the edges unsmoothed), they make up for in ambition.”
Key phrase: “Power to Dream Wife! They rock your world with punch, panache and passion.”
