ELVIS COSTELLO Et Son Camarade IGGY POP… En Français

4 December 2020

Bonjour à tout le monde. Aujourd’hui quelque chose de très spécial.

ELVIS COSTELLO and IGGY POP met recently for a conversation for Rolling Stone‘s
current Musicians On Musicians series. At one point Costello said that the lead-single
NO FLAG from his new, highly acclaimed, album Hey Clockface is actually an homage
to Pop’s old legendary band The Stooges.

And by surprise, they shared, during the interview, a new version of ‘No Flag with Costello playing every instrument and Iggy Pop singing… in French. Note: the Godfather of punk
has sung in French before, on his 2009 album Preliminaires et il le fait très bien.

Ici l’homme avec beaucoup de passion pour la vie en Français. On y va

7 November / 8 November 2020

I love the smell of rock ‘n’ roll in the weekend. Here come
five new firecrackers to boost your favorite 48 hours.

‘There’s A Ghost’ by SUPERCHUNK (Chapel Hill, North Carolina)

This brand new steamed up Superchunk missile proves that the band still has the adrenalin-fueled buzz and fuzz energy to make you jump up and down like a manic kangaroo on speed. A welcome wham bloody bam smack to ventilate your lockdown frustration. Press play…

‘Heavenly’ by BRITE SPIRES (Oxford/London)

Clear your living room cause here comes a Donna Summer dance floor killer that activates your isolation bones instantly. A dazzling disco-ball knockout pushed by a bouncy, funky drum/bass beat while Natalia‘s voice makes you feel sexy. Electro brilliance. Shake your booty here…

‘Hall Of Mirrors’ by CROSS WIRES (Romford, UK)

These DIY post-punk challengers just dropped their most catchy single so far. Built
around an addictive, ongoing guitar riff the band invites you to get up, stand up and discharge yourself. Exactly what our minds and our bodies need in these surreal times.
Big stroke, once again. Lubricate your vocal cords and release your demons this way…

‘No Flag’ by ELVIS COSTELLO (UK)

Last week the King Of America launched his new excellent album Hey Clockface. The outstanding track is unquestionably No Flag. His most sassy stroke in a long time rollin’
all over you. Costello is back from being never away. Here’s why…

‘Hindenburg’ by MY OCTOPUS MIND (Bristol)

After an intro of radio live radio broadcast flashes of the live radio broadcast of the
1937 German Hindenburg zeppelin disaster you enter a multi-layered sonic universe where you are tossed back and forth. From Mogwai atmospherics to Zappa‘s prog-rock eccentrics. From the psychedelic past to the art-noise present and back. Transfixing from start to finish and a fuck you middle-finger to all white supremacists. New album Faulty At Source out 20 November.

Scintillating Songsmith Shines Again – ‘HEY CLOCKFACE’ By ELVIS COSTELLO Out Now

1 November 2020

Artist: ELVIS COSTELLO
Album: HEY CLOCKFACE – his 31st (!) LP
Released: 30 October 2020

The Independent (English newspaper) wrote: “It’s hard not to view the seasoned singer-songwriter’s latest release as an old curiosity shop, filled with quirky memorabilia and his typically eccentric cast of characters… Costello has always been an exceptional storyteller,
and this is one of his most evocative albums.”
Score: 4/5.

Key lines: “I don’t spend my time perfecting the past. I live for the future,
because I know it won’t last.”

Turn Up The Volume: Costello’s musical canon is nothing less than outstanding, in
quality and quantity. If you want to listen to all of his LPs, one after another, you need approximately 30 hours. A thing many of us can do as we are condemned to stay at home to be safe. If you’re ready for an Elvis marathon start with this new one, it’s one of his best.

The scintillating songsmith shines once again.

Key singles: No Flag / Hetty O’Hara Confidential

– NO FLAG –
(Electrifying stormer)

– HETTY O’HARA CONFIDENTIAL –
(Buzzing fuzz)

ELVIS COSTELLO – Another Intriguing Piece Of His New Upcoming Album

New sonic impulses

17 October 2020

Declan Patrick MacManusew, better known as ELVIS COSTELLO
launches his 31th (!) album Hey Clockface on 30th October.

The transcendent songsmith already dropped four
tracks off the LP, and here’s cut number five.

NEWSPAPER PANE tackles the misleading, sensationalist media
with a waterfall of words over a repetitive hypnotic rhythm with
horns snippets in the back. Another intriguing piece. With all songs
that we heard so far it looks like the new LP will be a winner.

Freedom to dream
Freedom to wonder…

IT’S COSTELLO TIME!

16 September 2020

Elvis Costello’s October Surprise’50 Songs For 50 Days’

Message from Costello on his FB -page “Presenting lyrics written over the last 50 years,
most of them my own, and heard on recordings made between 1977 and 2020, including several that will be issued here for the first time. These songs were written in response to
events over these many years but it strikes me that you may find something useful in them
at this present moment; a joke, a motto or even a couple of dance steps to keep the blood pumping and the hot sauce at hand.

I hope these songs will amuse, console or even infuriate, because passive indifference is
hardly the way forward. From September 15th, we will bring you a different song every
day for the next 50 days.”

‘HEY CLOCKFACE/ HOW CAN YOU FACE ME NOW?’ From Upcoming ELVIS COSTELLO Album

And here’s the title track HEY CLOCKFACE/HOW CAN YOU FACE ME NOW?.
A song about “about picking an argument with time, the very clock face, either
running too fast or too slow, depending on the company you keep.”
says the
man who didn’t want to go Chelsea.

It’s a playful, jazzy and frisky jingle
with a happy-go-lucky feel good effect.
