New wave/electro icon GARY NUMAN recorded his most famous stunner and mega
hit ‘ARE “FRIENDS” ELECTRIC?‘ with his band TUBEWAY ARMY back in 1979 for the Replicas  LP. Every time I hear this overwhelming classic I feel shivers down my spine,
yes, still after all these years. And live you get an extra adrenalin injection like here with
this ravishing rendition in London in 2018 (part of his Savage tour) with an ecstatic
crowd in a state of euphoria.

Noise Rockers METZ Cover GARY NUMAN – Here’s ‘M.E.’

Fierce Canadian rockers METZ released their excellent rarities compilation Automat last month. The vinyl version included an exclusive 7” single featuring their interpretation of songs from three other, unexpected, artists: Sparklehorse‘s ‘Pig‘ from a very limited 2012 Record Store Day split single. ‘I’m A Bug‘ a cover of The Urinals art-punk classic, originally released on YouTube in 2014 and a previously unreleased rendition of electro legend GARY NUMAN‘s song ‘M.E.’ from his 1979 ‘Pleasure Principle‘ album.⁣⁣

ALL MUSIC wrote: “In the past, many have felt that Numan’s debut disc didn’t measure up to his later triumphs (1979’s Replicas, 1980’s Telekon, etc.), but listening to it today, you discover that it’s the most underrated of all his early albums. Numan & the Tubeway Army were one of the first new wave/punk bands (along with Kraftwerk and Devo) to successfully fuse robotic synthesizers with rock & roll. Gary Numan’s guitar riffing is more prominent here than on any other of his albums, which gives the tunes a splendid Ziggy Stardust feel at times. Kicking things off with several strong compositions…”
