Dark-Goth-wave legend GARY NUMAN had a chat recently
with the host of I’m ADHD! No You’re Not podcast.
He said: “I’ve got hearing aids on so I can hear what you’re doing. I’m 90 per cent deaf.”
NME: “According to a report by the Hearing Health Foundation, musicians are four times more likely to develop noise-induced hearing loss when compared to the general public because of repeated exposure to loud sounds, and are 57 per cent more likely to develop tinnitus.”

London‘s musician/singer-songwriterGARY NUMAN was
born, named Gary Anthony James Webb 67 years ago.
He started his impressive career in 1976 with his band Tubeway Army. After 2 LPs Numan wanted to break

Electro-pop big shot GARY NUMAN (born Gary Anthony James Webb 67 years ago
in London) is one of those unwearying artists who keep on going, even after several
decades in showbiz.
He started his journey back in 1977 under the moniker of Tubeway Army.
After two TA albums he dropped the moniker and proceeded as Gary Numan.
Overall, he recorded/released 21 LPs, with Intruder as the most recent one.
It came out in 2021.

His 2nd solo longplayer Telekon turned 45 last September. Enter a deluxe anniversary edition. Over the next couple of months his record label Beggars Banquet will release three different editions: a sustainably pressed vinyl, a double-LP deluxe expanded edition, and
a standard double-LP edition.
Numan:“Telekon has always held a rather warm place for me whenever I look back
at the early years. I was very proud of it. I thought the production had moved up a gear
for one thing. I was also proud of the fact that I’d not gone the commercial route and tried to repeat the formula and sound of “Cars” and “Are ‘Friends’ Electric?” I was still trying to move forward, find new sounds.”
All Numaoid fans will be happy to find out that
the anniversary edition will feature 4 previously
unreleased tracks.
One of them is B-Film. Previously unreleased songs are mostly leftovers, not good
enough to make the original album. But, this one is quite good. Vintage Numanesqye.
New electro wave celeb GARY NUMAN released his hit single CARS 40 years ago today, on 24 August 1984. It appeared on his first solo LP
(after 2 albums with Tubeway Army) The Pleasure Principle. It went to
the top of the UK Singles Chart.
Album: INTRUDER– his 19th (!) longplayer Released: 21st May 2021 – Order info here
Gary Numan: “Intruder looks at climate change from the planet’s
point of view. If Earth could speak, and feel things the way we do, what
would it say? How would it feel? The songs, for the most part, attempt to
be that voice, or at least try to express what I believe the earth must feel
at the moment.”
NME says: “in 2021, and with ‘Intruder’, he’s chiming with the times – and
sounding thrillingly relevant in the process… The electro-pop legend has seen
and done it all in 45 years – so when he says the planet’s knackered, as on this
bruised concept album, you’d better listen.” Full review here. Score: 4/5.
Turn Up The Volume: Numan still is an electric friend. His Tubeway Army
still is well oiled. No time yet to retire and leave us in your spaceship, Gary.
Gary Anthony James Webb aka GARY NUMAN started his triumphant career in 1975
as frontman of Tubeway Army. He celebrated his 63rd birthday on 8 March. And his new – already 19th – album titled Intruder sees the day of light on 21st May. Order info here.
Ahead of it comes (another) new track. SAINTS AND LIARS is “the earth drawing attention
to our blind faith in religion, in a fictitious God, who in reality does nothing for us, while at the same time abusing and destroying the planet, which does everything for us” says the God of all Numanoids.

New wave/electro icon GARY NUMAN recorded his most famous stunner and mega
hit ‘ARE “FRIENDS” ELECTRIC?‘ with his band TUBEWAY ARMY back in 1979 for the Replicas LP. Every time I hear this overwhelming classic I feel shivers down my spine,
yes, still after all these years. And live you get an extra adrenalin injection like here with
this ravishing rendition in London in 2018 (part of his Savage tour) with an ecstatic
crowd in a state of euphoria.
Sing/scream along right here…
The concert is immortalized in a live album
called Savage Live At Brixton Academy.
