GREG DULLI & MARK LANEGAN Cover BOB DYLAN For RSD 2020 (29th August)
28 August 2020
GREG DULLI & MARK LANEGAN, two of the most characterful voices in
rock, you can recognize anytime, anywhere joined forces years ago as
The Gutter Twins leaving a lasting impression with their 2008 album
Saturnalia.
The two 24/7 musicians now teamed up again for a cover of Bob Dylan’s
Girl From The North Country (a duet with his buddy, the late legend
Johnny Cash) from his 1969 Nashville Skyline album.
The cover was the B-side to Greg Dulli‘s single A Ghost from his magnificent solo
album Random Desire (one of this year’s best longplayers). Tomorrow 29 August,
the duet song is available as a limited blue vinyl release. More info HERE. Suppose
living troubadour legend Bob Dylan would have joined the pair for this unqiue recording. Sorry… I was only dreaming.
Sing it, guys…

OUT TODAY! Intense Solo Debut Album By GREG DULLI – Here’s ‘RANDOM DESIRE’…
21 February 2020
Today GREG DULLI – the frontman for years of The Afghan Whigs and Twilight Singers – released his first solo longplayer called ‘RANDOM DESIRE‘. After a couple of spins it’s clear that, I know it’s early in the year, that this is and will be one of the most gripping honest, most human, most gripping and most affecting LPs of 2020. Dulli digs deep into his soul and translates his findings into a passionate work that in turn touches our souls. No fillers, all emotional killers. Poetic music for the twilight hours.
The press praises ‘Random Desire‘ too. Here are some reflections…
PITCHFORK
“The Afghan Whigs leader’s debut solo album balances guitar-slashing catharsis with candelabra-lit elegance, taking inspired tangents from his signature nocturnal sensibility without departing from it entirely.”
UNCUT MAGAZINE
“Dulli remains a restless and unpredictable frontman, constantly distorting his voice from a soaring falsetto into a bellowing bass, as though he’s just getting started.”
ROLLING STONE
‘Reminds us why he was one of the alt-rock era’s most compelling tortured romantics’
Q MAGAZINE
“Where the spiraling The Tide is a ringer for his old band, he’s at his best when he’s playing a velvet-voiced Mephistopheles on A ghost or leading a spectral New Orleans jazz band on through the low-key electronic soundscape of Lockless.”
SPIN
“Before they were rock royalty, Nick Cave and Leonard Cohen were artists who could best be classified as “If you know, you know.” That means before they got the deserved love, respect and acclaim that often comes with being able to survive the music industry for more than 30 years hey were those artists only those diehard fans would travel to see, get their lyrics tattooed on them and exclaim in wide disbelief when fans hadn’t heard of their heroes. You can add Greg Dulli to that group too.”

GREG DULLI Shares New Compelling Piece From Upcoming Solo Album – Here’s ‘A GHOST’…
New sonic impulses…
18 February 2020
GREG DULLI, frontman for years of The Afghan Whigs and Twilight Singers will release his debut solo album RANDOM DESIRE on 21st February. All songs were written after the death of Afghan Whigs guitarist Dave Rosser.
Last December Dulli released the kick-ass lead single Pantomima and a couple of weeks ago a second cut, the moody, gripping IT FALLS APART went online. And here is a third compelling piece. ‘A GHOST‘ is another candlelight reflection, romantically arranged and orchestrated with bells, subtle flamenco castanets, a gypsy string section, and a touching steel guitar. These three splendid pearls predict that an amazing LP is coming our way.
Here’s the audio clip for ‘A Ghost’…

Last December Dulli released the flaming lead single Pantomima and now here’s a second cut. IT FALLS APART is a melancholic meditation that sounds vulnerable and ghostly. Here’s the audio clip (with lyrics)…
And here is the flashy clip for lead single Pantomima. Dulli said that “the video
is an homage to the movie All That Jazz. Pantomima feels like a show tune to me.”
