Welsh Fervid Rockers HOLY COVES Release Their 4th LP ‘HIRAETH’ In August – Info & The First Two Heartfelt Singles

15 April 2026

Band: HOLY COVES
Who: Highly passionate Welsh rockers, fronted
by singer-songwriter Scott Marsden.

Album: HIRAETH
Their 4th one. It’ll land on August 14th.

a deep, nostalgic longing or homesickness.

The band have dropped 2 ardent tasters (so far).

– FALLING DOWN –

A song that tells the tragic story of the loss of frontman Scott Marsden‘s
uncle Tony, who sadly drowned as a child in Cyprus. It was a story Scott was
told from a very young age, staying with him his whole life, creating a fear
of the water.

TUTV: An astonishing piece of riff-roasting catharsis

Marsden: “After my Mum passed away last year it got me thinking a lot about death,
and what does all this really matter after we’re gone. We really do need to make the most
of the time we have, and to make each day count. There really is always a light at the end
of the tunnel, however hard it may seem.”

TUTV: Another flaming and voltaic, vintage HC burst.

New HOLE Music? COURTNEY LOVE And MELISSA AUF DER MAUR Together In A Studio After 24 Years

A couple of days ago COURTNEY LOVE and MELISSA AUF DER MAUR
who played bass for 5 years with HOLE alongside founder/singer Courtney,
got together in a studio for the first time in 24 years.

It happened in London. Photos appeared on the Instagram account
(@_fromhertoeternity) of website From Her To Eternity that celebrates
the contributions of women to music, and is curated by Love and longtime
rock journo Julie Panebianco.

No further details or news about what they were actually doing
there, but cool to see them back together on the 5 photos below.

Celebrity skins Courtney and Melissa back in 1998.

HOLE Released Their 5-Star Dynamite Grunge Rock Album ‘LIVE THROUGH THIS’ 30 Years Ago

14 April 2024

Courtney Love and HOLE released their 2nd LP LIVE THROUGH THIS on 12 April 1994,
30 years ago. A blazing blast of a dynamite grunge rock record with awesome tracks such as Violet, Miss World, Plump, Doll Parts and Softer, Softest. You love or you hate Courtney, but I can’t see any reason whatsoever to hate this 5-star album.

– VIOLET –

– DOLL PARTS –

Rolling Stone wrote: “Courtney Love became a widow just days before her band Hole
released their breakthrough album, giving Live Through This a grueling, ripped-from-the-headlines intensity. Written while her husband Kurt Cobain’s life was spinning out of control and recorded by a band mired in drug problems (bassist Kristen Pfaff would overdose in June ’94), it still managed to move past the scabrous noise of Hole’s 1991 debut Pretty on the Inside with a clear, catchy urgency.

Debate raged about how much Cobain had assisted in Love’s amazing transformation as a songwriter (his backing vocals appear on the album, and his influence his everywhere). But this was Love’s show and she stormed through it, demanding to be “the girl with the most cake” and eating it too. ”

MEATBODIES – Los Angeles’ Psych Rockers Score Big With Their New Rollicking Riffage Album ‘FLORA OCEAN TIGER BLOOM’

8 March 2024

Today Los Angeles‘ psych rockers MEATBODIES fronted by voice/guitarist/songwriter Chad Ubovich, have added a 4th LP to their résumé. It’s baptized FLORA OCEAN TIGER BLOOM. Order info here.

Press info: Meatbodies’ latest undertaking and borderline lost album, Flora Ocean
Tiger Bloom
, is their most varied and realized work to date. It’s a melodic, hook-filled
rock epic in which frontman and lead guitarist Chad Ubovich faces the trials of sobriety, redemption, reinvention while literally learning to walk and play again.

Resurrection not only accompanies the record, but its production as well, and examines themes surrounding love and loss, escapism, defeatism, hedonism, psychedelics and much more.

TUTV: Without a shadow of a doubt their best achievement, so far. Their 4th
resonates like a badass riff-hook-lick machine with, sonically, lots of echoes from the swinging 60s/70s psych pop/rock era translated to modern-day guitar-noizz electricity.

From harmony experts The Byrds and The 13th Floor Elevators‘ delirious garage hullabaloo to the nightingale splendor of Scottish heroes Teenage Fanclub. From Black Sabbath drones and The Stone Roses‘ sassy Madchester swagger of their 1989 debut LP to Jane’s Addiction towering art-rock flamboyance.

Chad Ubovich could be the main vocalist of any of those bands. His voice has that timeless psychedelia-rock timbre that elevates this record’s tracks to far-out highs. We, fans, know that he’s a six-string virtuoso too and that he’s backed by a terrifically solid band. He has a lot of demons to fight with, but in the end the healing power of music triumphs.

Big rollicking Meatbodies score.
One for best-of-the-year lists.

Daily noise that works faster than any stimulant

Following the sassy singles Hole and Move the band have dropped taster number 3.

BILLOW starts with a rollin’ guitar/bass riff and vocals echoing 60s harmonies experts
The Byrds. Then the revolving groove moves into the 21st Century with layered Teenage Fanclub vocality. Guitars screech backwards, and the drummer takes care of the heartbeat of this juggernaut until the outro ends the tense trip. Hells bells. Bring on the album.

Wake up world.

HOLE Released Furious Debut LP ‘PRETTY ON THE INSIDE’ 30 Years Ago Today

17 September 2021

Band: HOLE
Who: Grunge punk band formed by loudmouth
Courtney Love
and guitarist Eric Erlandson in L.A.
Active: 1989–2002, 2009–2012 / 4 studio albums

Anniversary album: PRETTY ON THE INSIDE
The band’s debut LP
Released: 17 September 1991 – 30 years ago today

Pop Matters said: “When Love sings, “In the dark I destroy what I began”,
“I Knife me…I slash my”, Love is inevitably tracing back to her own roots of
self-loathing. This simplistic lyrical delivery is a truly remarkable feat. Her
words are easy to understand, and entirely accessible. The band’s songs are
catchy, and perpetually thumping with hyper guitars, and feedback-laden
reverbs. And as such, they are especially easy to sing along to, which in turn,
makes their content equally poignant and satirical… When Love spurts out her
final lines: “It’s life’s illusions I recall”, “I really don’t know life at all!” over Eric
Erlandson’s withering guitar…one is left feeling nothing short of gobsmacked,
and that my friends, is a good thing.”
Full review here. Score: 8/10.

Turn Up The Volume: You either love or hate Courtney Love. I love her,
most of all her guts. Her youth was a succession of misery, abuse, no
safe family, poorness, and loneliness leading to sex work, drugs and
alcohol, psychiatric problems, manic depressions, and mental issues.
Actually, a wonder that she survived all this devastating mess.

On this debut LP Love tries to get rid of all her ugly demons and screams
her lungs to pieces. This is the punkiest grunge record ever made and paved
the way to their best one Live Through This.

Single: Skinny Little Bitch
B-side: Codine
Released: 12 March 2010 – 10 years ago today
Album: Nobody’s Daughter – the band’s 4th album
NME described it just perfectly: “a balls-out, low-down
dirty rock song, and as fine a signature tune for the new
Hole as you could imagine. Tapping the same lyrical vein as
‘Samantha’, it’s The Stooges fronted by a Joan Jett re-imagined
as the Bride Of Frankenstein. And it’s the sound of Courtney
having fun.”
