Guitar virtuoso EDDIE VAN HALEN was born named Edward Lodewijk Van Halen
in Amsterdam, The Netherlands on 26 January 1955. He would have celebrated his
70th birthday today.

As co-founder of rock giants Van Halen he made/released
12 studio LPs between 1978 and 2012 with the glam band.

Their 1996 single JUMP was an astronomical hit,
as we know. Almost 1 billion streams on Spotify.

You got to roll with the punches to get to what’s real”

Van Halen passed away, 5 years ago, in
October 2020 following a stroke. R.I.P.

It conquered the top seat of the US Singles Charts 40 years ago today, on
25 February 1984 and stayed there for 5 weeks. The classic peaked at #7
in the UK.

To celebrate this year’s Hanukkah, the traditional Jewish
Festivals Of Lights Foo Fighter DAVE GROHL and producer
GREG KURSTIN got together for some smoking covers, like the
Ramones classic Blitzkrieg Bop (Joey ‘Jeffery Hyman’ and Tommy
‘Thomas Erdelyi’ were Jewish.)

Another one – just shared – is their take
on Van Halen‘s 1984 blockbuster Jump.

“Quite possibly the loudest and proudest of hard-rocking Jews, David
Lee Roth has gone on record crediting his Bar Mitzvah preparation as his
earliest vocal training. He became a rock star the day he became a man,”
said the duo.

R.I.P EDDIE VAN HALEN.

The singer/songwriter, producer, amazing
lead-guitarist and most of all the co-founder,
with his brother Alex, of Californian hero
rockers Van Halen is no more.

Yesterday his son Wolf broke the news on Twitter: “I can’t believe I’m having
to write this, but my father, Edward Lodewijk Van Halen, lost his long and arduous
battle with cancer this morning. He was the best father I could ever ask for. Every
moment I’ve shared with him on and off stage was a gift. My heart is broken and
I don’t think I’ll ever fully recover from this loss.”

In honor of the rock icon let’s listen again, as countless fans will do today,
to Van Halen‘s mega score JUMP. The timeless cracker was released on
21 December 1983 with House Of Pain as B-side. Jump featured on their
sixth LP titled 1984.

The blockbuster hit topped the US charts for five weeks.
