NADA SURF – New York’s Rock Veterans Stir With Melancholic Reflection ‘LOSING’ From Their Forthcoming Album

Veteran NYC band NADA SURF showed up back in 1992. They changed
their name no less than 3 times – Helicopter, Caws and Lorca – in 3 years
before they decided to go for Nada Surf.

So far they have 9 LPs on their résumé and they will add number 10, which
is baptized Moon Mirror and will see the day of light on September 13.

Following lead single In Front Of Me and New Propeller
we get another newbie with LOSING.

It’s a melancholic mid-tempo reflection fueled by layers of shoegazy guitars and
heavyhearted vocals that make me think of Scottish nightingales Teenage Fanclub.

“I have lost all there is/ I have lost what never was
But this is just today/ It will go away.”

Rip-Roaring Lockdown Paranoia – Here’s ‘PUTAIN ROYALE ‘By PINK ROOM

15 March 2021

Band: PINK ROOM (Belgium)
Who: Three vociferous noiseniks

Album: PUTAIN ROYALE – 2nd LP
Released: 12 March 2021

Turn Up The Volume says: The essential message of this new powerhouse album is
loud and clear: noise-challenging turbo Pink Room is here to stay! Their tsunami energy
is beyond any decibel regulation. Again, loudmouth Bart Cocquyt leads the rip-roaring troops. As I said before his vocal range is out-of-this-world. He easily could front a death metal band (Stay Black/Stay White) or a Nirvana reunion (Losing/Skin) or kick Ozzy Osbourne‘s ass (Hail Satan). Expect ear-shattering jackhammers, over-the-top frenzy, and an overall sonic lockdown paranoia.

Putain, putain, c’est vachement bien, nous sommes quand même tous des bohemiens.

Move Over NIRVANA – Here’s PINK ROOM Smelling Like Cheap Champagne And Overdue Oysters

Daily electricity to load your batteries…

2 March 2021

Putain, putain

What do you do when you get bored during these no-live-music times if you are a hungry-for-action-and-alcohol band? Well if you’re Belgian noiseniks PINK ROOM you buy a case of cheap champagne and one kilo of overdue oysters and you pretend you’re a rich pig like King-burger Elvis was.

But after a couple of hours, totally pissed and sick, you’re bored again and you decide to do something to share with other bored people, like us. So you write and record a fervid firecracker Nirvana forgot to write – because they were too busy to absorb first-class champagne and fresh oysters with the money they earned by smelling like teen spirits.

Now, back to the smelly garage of Pink Room. You call the cannonball you have just written LOSING (what else) and you make a video clip to promote your new steamy stunner. In that very clip, you show what a bored band does while being bored. Guess what? They drink bottles of cheap champagne and consume overdue oysters. Fun, right? You betcha!

Now you know what to drink and eat when you’re bored and you can do it all while
hopping around like a stoned kangaroo while LOSING is about to crush your speakers.

FUCKTASTIC!

Unleash the beast…

Debut EP By Belgian Electro Duo FIRST Is An Emotive And Spellbinding Tour De Force

27 April 2020

FIRST is a Belgian electro duo featuring musician Pieter Vochten and singer/musician Jasmin Smolders. They just released their self-titled debut EP. A marvelous four-track journey into an imaginary world of their own. The fusion of cinematic atmospherics (To Long), trippy emo house (Just Now), Björk’s Utopia fantasies (Losing) and dark drum ‘n’
bass bliss (You Lie) turn this emotive electronic tour de force into a spiritual experience with Jasmin‘s spellbinding and spacey voice as the beating heart of this compelling and shadowy odyssey.

It’s a true pleasure to have Jasmin guiding us through
this captivating piece of work, track by track…

JUST NOW

.
“I think ‘Just Now’ was one of the first new songs I wrote. I wanted it a bit louder in terms of sound, so I started with a hard synth in the intro, the polyphony of the voices made the song
a bit more delicate. ‘First’ is very dark and light at the same time, I find it interesting to look for those contrasts.”

LOSING

.
“‘Losing’ was our first single we released. The song does not have much meaning in terms of content, I am also looking for an atmosphere in music rather than a message. Often the songs only get a meaning later on because of the mood of the song. Here we look again for the contrast between the dark basses, industrial beats and lightness in the melodies.”

YOU LIE

.
“The song ‘You Lie’ was created with an echoing vocal line in phonetic English at the
beginning. Then I listen to the sounds and the words slowly gain meaning, and then
later become a completely English text. The intro feels very spacious, here again the
slow ominous vocals contrasted with the faster beats in the chorus.”

TO LONG

.
‘ To with one ‘o’ so the number is indeed about desire. ‘To Long’ is a song that quickly disappeared between all the separate demos that I no longer thought were good enough.
Until one day my love found the MP3 between his files (I probably had forwarded the song once). It was a rediscovery, and we decided to give the song a second chance. It turned out
that ‘To Long’ was also our strongest track in production and in our live set. Suddenly the
song was very close to my heart and I suddenly felt all the feelings behind it.’

Dutch Psych Rock Trio BLACK MONSOON Rages Robustly On New Single ‘LOSING’…

Daily fuel to load your sonic batteries…

16 November 2019

Band: BLACK MONSOON

Who: “Experimental Noise Rock and Grunge trio from the Netherlands”
Last year they released their self-titled debut EP

Pick: LOSING – the band’s newest single

Score: This is a filthy roaring steamroller fueled by maniacal riffs, a weighty drums/bass tandem and raging vocals, yet the overall stormy tone of this pounding psych rocker resonates extremely catchy thanks to the explosive chorus that sticks instantly as first-class glue. Imagine The Stooges and MC5 having a blasting jam trying to find out who can produce the meanest noise. Oh yes, expect some rollicking hullabaloo. Right here, right now…
