rarely topped. Using the revelations of this year’s Archives Volume III (1976-1987)
as a lodestar and insights from his collaborators, we plot his contrarian path.

NEIL YOUNG – Colossal Box Set ‘ARCHIVES VOL. III (1976-1987)’ Lands In September

NEIL YOUNG‘s are truly inexhaustible. For some years now he
has come up with lots of previously unreleased music, mostly
live recordings.

And here comes a colossal one.

ARCHIVES VOLUME III (1976-1987) contains 198 tracks, spread over 17 CDs
and 5 Blu Rays. The giant box includes 121 previously unreleased versions of live,
studio mixes, or edits, and 15 songs that are being released for the very first
time.

It’s 28 hours of material in total, which as a press statement points out, could take you driving from New York to Denver, with some music left over. The collection also includes
a 176-page book, a 16-track sampler named Takes, a poster and a NYA pin.

Only 5000 boxes available.
Release date: September 6.

52 years ago today, on 18 March 1972, rock icon NEIL YOUNG topped the US Singles Chart with one of his most famous songs, HEART OF GOLD from his magnum opus Harvest.

So far his only number-one hit in the US.

The song features backing vocals by two other stars, James Taylor and Linda Ronstadt.

Young recorded the song acoustically as he had a painful back injury, that hindered
him to stand up for long periods of time. He wasn’t able to play his electric guitar.

NEIL YOUNG Returns To SPOTIFY

Back in early 2022, NEIL YOUNG pulled back his full music catalogue from Spotify because the streaming platform #1 had Joe Rogan’s podcast on, which Young accused
of spreading misinformation about anti-Covid 19 vaccines.

Some of his contemporaries including Joni Mitchell,
Nils Lofgren, and Crosby, Stills, & Nash followed him.

But Spotify, recently negotiated a deal with Rogan that made his broadcasts available on other platforms too. For this reason, Young announced on his website that he decided to return return Spotify, despite even his long expressed frustration with their audio quality.

STATEMENT

Spotify, the #1 streamer of low res music in the world — Spotify where you get less quality than we made, will now be home of my music again. My decision comes as music services Apple and Amazon have started serving the same disinformation podcast features I had opposed at SPOTIFY.

I cannot just leave Apple and Amazon, like I did Spotify, because my music would have very little streaming outlet to music lovers at all, so I have returned to Spotify, in sincere hopes that Spotify sound quality will improve and people will be able to hear and feel all the music as we made it. Qobuz and Tidal, where my music is presented, are all High res as well.

I hope all you millions of Spotify users enjoy my songs! They
will now all be there for you except for the full sound we created.

Hopefully Spotify will turn to Hi Res as the answer and serve all the music to everyone. Spotify, you can do it! Really be #1 in all ways. You have the music and the listeners!!!! Start with a limited Hi res tier and build from there!
