Gabriel was born on 13 February 1950 in Surrey, England. Happy 74 to original
lead singer of the prog rock icons Genesis whose eccentric face/voice he was
from 1967-1975. In his still ongoing solo career he only released 10 albums. But
he composed several film soundtracks and he worked with multiple other artists.

His 10th LP named i/o came out last December.

But I’ll go for his huge 1986 hit Sledgehammer to celebrate his birthday.

Hooky (his nickname) was born on 13 February 1956. Happy 68 to the legendary bassist
of iconic bands Joy Division and New Order, playing songs from both bands for years now with his own project Peter Hook & The Light. One of the greatest four-string musicians ever.

Live in Mexico City.

– HENRY ROLLINS –

Henry Rollins was born named Henry Lawrence Garfield on 13 February 1961 in
Washington, D.C. Happy 63 to charismatic singer/musician who made his name
first with punk turbo Black Flag (1976–1986), and continued with his own Rollins Band. Over the years he became a spoken word artist, actor, comedian, writer and TV presenter.

If there’s one bass player you always recognize when he pulls his strings it’s PETER HOOK also known as HOOKY. The man who created a sound that was fundamental and essential for Joy Division as well as for New Order. The man who plays his beloved instrument as if it has six strings instead of four. Hooky‘s resonance is unique and ageless as he still proves, for years now, with his band The Light, on stages around the globe.

Today the Manchester legend celebrates his 66th birthday.
Turn Up The Volume picked 3 great Hooky moments for this
festive occasion.

– LOVE WILL TEAR US APART –
(Joy Division classic played live with The Light)

– ATMOSPHERE –
(Joy Division classic – with awesome soul voice Rowetta)

TEMPTATION –
(New Order gem)

The Sound Of JOY DIVISION Orchestrated

6 August 2022

.

PETER HOOK (former bassist of legendary post-punk band Joy Division)
in collaboration with symphonic orchestra Manchester Orchestra played
a surprising show at the historic Royal Albert Hall in London billed as
The Sound Of Joy Division Orchestrated.

The spectacle returns now for two concerts,
one in Manchester and one in London again.

“With its first edition at the Royal Albert Hall, The Sound Of Joy Division Orchestrated accommodated the need to reminisce about the dark romanticism of the band’s
music and the intensity of their live shows. The event celebrated the 40th anniversary
of Joy Division’s debut album Unknown Pleasures. “

Peter Hook: “It takes Joy Division’s music to a whole different place,
emotionally and aurally. It is difficult to transcribe but I love the challenge,
and it brings a freshness to the whole concept.”

Trailer/interview for the 2021 orchestrated edition in London.

Happy B. HOOKY!
