The now 60-year-old J. Mascis‘s grungy slacker rock band DINOSAUR JR. just announced the upcoming delivery of their 13th LP, baptized THERE NEAR. It’ll land on August 28th.

Tracklist and pre-order info here.

Created in short, intense bursts over the course of a year, There Near was recorded almost entirely by Dino’s core trio: Murph on drums, Lou Barlow on bass/vocals and J Mascis on guitar/vocals.

Spooky artwork

J Mascis about writing the new LP: “I’m not always sure what a song is ‘about’ when
I’m writing it. I guess the meaning will present itself at some point. I’ll use whatever words
work. And a lot of it will be influenced by whatever esoteric mumbo jumbo I’m reading at
he time.

I try not to think too hard about any of it. I think it’s a drag that
Spotify shows all the lyrics to a song. What’s the fun of that?.”

Good golly! The first single SEVERAL GOT AWAY
is a stupendous sockdolager. Bombshelling hit!

CHAT PILE – Oklahoma’s Screamo Punks Return With Ominous Single ‘DEEP BLUE’ From Upcoming 3rd LP

Daily electricity to load your batteries

10 June 2026

Band: CHAT PILE
Who: Oklahoma City‘s
spiky screamo-punks.

Track: DEEP BLUE
Lead single from their forthcoming LP, called Who Loves The Sun.
It’ll land on September 4th. Tracklist and order info here.

Press info: “In a world increasingly shaped by disposable content, Chat Pile answers with something defiantly real and organic, a mentality that permeates Who Loves The Sun, their third full-length record.

Whereas their debut album God’s Country depicted a particularly American flavor of dread, and the follow up Cool World showed a cruel planet defined by global systemic violence.”

Who Loves The Sun peels the skin back on how collective indifference defines this new century. Spanning imagery of coastlines devouring cities, dead-end jobs, and submission to data-driven inauthenticity, the album dissects the apathy-bloated state of 21st-century existence as a slow-motion apocalypse.”

And here’s the lead single.
An earth-shaking warning.
Disastrous times are nigh.

WHOLES – Belgian Psych Noiz 4-Piece Still Operate In A Dark Place With Their New Nightmare ‘EAZY FOR YOU’

8 June 2026

Band: WHOLES
Who: Belgian raucous noise outfit led by musical chameleon Wolf Vanwymeersch,
who played with several bands (pop, rock, sludge metal) and released a pure singer-songwriter pearl with solo debut album The Early Years back in 2022.

Wholes are “what remains after a soul has been detonated, what
struck those around it, what could no longer be contained”.

Last year, the band scored big time with their heart-wrenching debut album, named
A Mass In The Water. One of the best 10 LPs of 2025 according to TUTV‘s ears: “It’s a
both scary and flabbergasting opus about Wolf’s father’s suicide. It takes a lot of courage to make and share this soul-crushing experience with the world.”

Track: EAZY FOR YOU
Newest single. A song about
frustration and liberation.

TUTV: Wholes still operate in a dark place where their demons feel at home.
Main man Wolf Vanwymeersch still wallows in self-torchering nightmares.

At times it feels as if somebody tries to rip his heart out with chainsaw riffs. Quite scary.
As Johnny Forgotten Rotten once sung, ‘this is not a love song‘, rather a gruesome dilemma meditation of choice, staying in the by now familiar darkness or fighting its way to the light at the end of the tunnel.

Another wholes-ly goosebumps juggernaut.

“easy for you
easy for you to cackle
these things don’t affect me
easy for you to let it all pass
easy for you to just roll your eyes
cause you’re above that
cause you’re on top of that
cause you’re better and smarter
and more flexible”

TENDER CLAWS – Gothesque Liverpool Artist Entrances With Monumental Piece ‘SPRING TIME CULL’

Daily electricity to load your batteries

27 May 2026

Artist: SPRING TIM CULL
Who: Musical moniker of Liverpool singer-songwriter Tess Corr. Inspired by PJ Harvey, QOTSA, and NIN, she produces a dark alt rock sound with elements of grunge, industrial, indie, shoegaze & goth, resulting in powerful fuzz-heavy outbursts & softer episodes, scattered with serrated guitar & synth elements.

Track: SPRING TIME CULL

“The song is was inspired by a devastating news article about how a whole pack of wolves was illegally poisoned in the Apennine mountains in Italy in 2023 by a suspected farmer. The song is sung from the point of view of a mother wolf warning her cub about the dangers of humans: how they have exploited their habitat for their own means, and view wolves as a threat.

This story made Tender Claws think about human-wildlife coexistence on a wider scale and how it is so imbalanced and unfair, and how nature is often disrespected, disregarded or taken for granted.”

TUTV: Spring Time Cull displays a monumental sonority, generated by a towering drum/guitar clash and glueing synths. Thunder and lightning everywhere, while Corr‘s gothesque voice completes the sonic presence of horror and evil in the air. This
spine-chilling thrill sends shivers down your spine. Helter skelter.

“I saw something I hope you never have to see
Six black death bags in the shapes of us
Another pack that were unfortunate
Victims of the spring time cull”
