HOLY COVES – Welsh Rousing Indies Mesmerise With Melancholic Guitar Pop Nugget ‘TRAVELLING’

Daily electricity to load your batteries

27 July 2026

Band: HOLY COVES
Who: Rousing Welsh indie outfit, fronted
by singer-songwriter Scott Marsden.

Track: TRAVELLING
Newest single from their 4th LP, titled Hiraeth.
It’ll land on August 14th. Pre-order info here.

Marsden: “This song was my therapy during one of the most difficult moments of my life.
Being able to pick up the guitar and putting pen to paper was the most positive thing I could
do at that time. It helped me process it all and put everything in its place. This is a process I have learnt to embrace that has saved me on many occasions.

TUTV: Travelling is a heart-and-soul stirring earworm. A gripping, arresting, and
magnetic pop pearl. Its instant catchiness, its mellifluous melodiousness, melancholic vocals, electrically-charged guitar sparks and terrifically emotive chorus combine for
a gloriously sweet-sounding nugget.

Embrace it with your ears. I added this beauty
my best tracks of the year playlist. Say no more.

EMILY GROGAN – Puissant Boston Voice Enthralls With Power Ballad ‘TELL YOUR FRIENDS’

Daily electricity to load your batteries

20 July 2026

Artist: EMILY GROGAN
Who: Multi-instrumentalist and songstress from
Boston who has 2 albums (so far) on her résumé.

Track: TELL YOUR FRIENDS

Press info: “For several years, Grogan had a song inside of her that was desperate to get out. But it was little more than a casual idea, narrated by her inner voice, dancing around her head, reminding her of our shared humanity and ability to persevere through difficult times. She had an edgy bass sound as the foundation, and an opening lyric that she just could not stop thinking about: “Tell your friends to make amends, ’cause everything is about to blow.”

Grogan: “The song came from feeling overwhelmed by the amount of chaos, division,
and fear happening around us. “I found myself pulling more inward this year, and in
those moments when I step back into the world, I see the external chaos from a
different perspective.

So much of what surrounds us seems built around fear;
fear that divides people, fuels greed, and creates suffering.”

TUTV: Grogan‘s puissant voice carries this alarming power ballad throughout
its riveting course, peaking on the imposing chorus. Think Alanis Morissette in her
early days. Enthralling and engrossing. The song’s melodramatic structure emphasises today’s grim times. People always found a way to survive, we need to succeed now
too, pronto. Tell your friends.

ECHO & THE BUNNYMEN Return With Ominous Single ‘BRUSSELS IS HAUNTED’

Daily electricity to load your batteries

16 July 2026

Photo by Turn Up The Volume

No expiration date for Liverpool‘s indestructible
post-punk-pop rockers ECHO & THE BUNNYMEN.

On 18 September they will launch their 13th LP,
their first in 12 years, named Apples For Isaac.
No idea who that guy is.

On the first single, frontman, big mouth and big voice Ian McCulloch explores
the ghosts and characters of the Belgian capital haunted by World War 2. As a
fanatic E&TB fan, I know they played Brussels countless times, but the last time
I was in Brussels (I’m Belgian), about two weeks ago.

But you never know these days.
Can you hear me, Ian? You can
run, but you can’t hide.

Whatever, this new single confirms that longevity isn’t always
a negative, getting boring, factor for artists. BRUSSELS IS HAUNTED
is, er, a haunting, sha la la home run.

See you in Brussels, Ian.

QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE Surprise With New Acoustic Feel Good Hit Of The Summer ‘EASY STREET’

Daily electricity to load your batteries

15 July 2026

Photo Andreas Neumann

Josh Homme‘s turbulent turbine QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE released a 5-track EP
last year, called Alive In The Catacombs. It was recorded in the literal catacombs, the
old cemetery tunnels under Paris. Five old, stripped-to-the-bone songs.

And it looks/sounds like he wants more of that intimacy with the new single EASY STREET.

Homme: “It’s kind of a funny song. It’s like hitting your funny bone, where it’s funny because
it hurts and it hurts because it’s funny. You’re serious, but it’s funny. We made it the way you’d make a demo. No click track, mistakes left in. It speeds up, it slows down, the claps aren’t great, but they’re not bad, and a bad clap adds this human thing you can’t fake.”

TUTV: Certainly another kind of feel good summer hit than the one from 2000. No bragging about taking a ton of drugs here. No macho riffs. No astronomic power speed. Easy Street is an acoustic power pop gem. Infectiously melodic, spiced with duet vocals here and there. Let the freaks and the birds sing.

Here we go.

GARBAGEBARBIE – Los Angeles Dropouts Go Mental On New Turbocharger ‘PUNK’

Daily electricity to load your batteries

13 July 2026

Band: GARBAGEBARBIE
Who: A 4-piece that has carved a space for themselves in Los Angeles’ DIY scene, gaining a reputation for hosting rowdy, and oftentimes free, themed shows. Combining elements of Britpop, glam, punk, French disco, and garage rock, garbagebarbie’s confrontational racket refuses to be confined by genre.

Track: PUNK
Single from their upcoming debut LP.

Dan Karasev (drummer): “The song holds up a mirror to ourselves. It pokes fun at the LA bar scene which even though we can make fun of, it doesn’t change the fact that we are still in that scene. “

Single artwork

TUTV: Prepare your eardrums for a punked-up motherrocker, a savage haymaker,
a sped-up turbocharger. Its unyielding harshness increases with every second and
every time the clamorous chorus kicks in, it’s all hands on deck.

WTF! Zoinks! Mental!

Get yourself an extra seatbelt, you’ll need it to get away
unscathed when this kamikaze stunner hits your stereo.

“Beer makes me fat and I can’t get laid
walk to the bar to stay in shape
kind of dude to ask for hugs
I use my mom’s credit card to buy drugs”

Daily electricity to load your batteries

8 July 2026

Band: THE DURUTTI COLUMN
Who: Post-punk project of Manchester-born, experimental singer-songwriter-guitarist Vincent Gerard “Vini” Reilly (now 72). The band’s name referres to the Durruti Column,
an anarchist military unit in the Spanish Civil War, named after Buenaventura Durruti.

Track: SCAMMER
New piece from their upcoming 28th full-length,
called Renascent, out on July 31st. Order info here.

Press info about the LP: “This album marks the long-awaited return of legendary Manchester outfit The Durutti Column, their first new studio album in over 15 years.

Around the guitar work of Vini Reilly, the album plays between sonic atmospherics and structure: warm ambient washes, piano, beats and guest vocal turns by a new generation (Caoilfhionn Rose). Both contemporary and otherworldly.

TUTV: Reilly‘s vulnerable voice carries this both melancholic and spellbinding musing designed with warm background synths and shiny guitar sparks. Just beautiful, really beautiful. Can’t wait to hear the comeback album.

TV PINS – Vibrant British Guitar Pop Indies Drop All-Inclusive Pop Pearl ‘VERSION OF LOVE’

Daily electricity to load your batteries

6 July 2026

Band: TV PINS
Who: Indie five-piece based across London and the West Midlands.
They blend prog-pop, new wave, and Americana influences with a
distinctly British alt-rock songwriting sensibility – pairing 70s-inspired
vocal harmonies with a sharp, 90s-influenced energy.

They released their debut album Aircutter in 2024.

Track: VERSION OF LOVE
Cut from their forthcoming
self-released EP.

Grace Hinks (LGBTQ+ vocalist): “To me, it’s about accepting and standing up to
those who don’t embrace all forms of love – romantic, aromantic, and especially
queer joy. It’s about celebrating that openly.”

TUTV: Version Of Love is a perky pop pearl that promptly boosts your dance-hungry
body. A sparkling guitar riff, summery vibes, warm-hearted melodiousness, bright-eyed and bushy-tailed vocals, and an infectious tunefulness come together to soundtrack an
all-inclusive love gathering.

John Lennon was right all along ‘All You Need Is Love’.
This way for cloud-nine, people, next to that vibrant
rainbow.

GUSH – Hefty Irish Punk & Roll Engine Drives You Insane With Torrid Turbocharger ‘CONSTANCE’

Daily electricity to load your batteries

3 July 2026

Band: GUSH
Who: Frantic Belfast 4-piece who released their cooking
5-track debut EP Exposure Therapy in 2024.

Track: CONSTANCE
New single.

TUTV: Courtney Love is back with her band Hole. Well, not really, but
there’s definitely a sonic and attitude connection with this roasting Irish
engine. Constance rocks you off your socks in just under 3 minutes.

They race with high-voltage speed from the blitz start on, gas-powered by furious
guitars, a raving mad drummer and Chelsea Andrews‘s spiteful vocals. Halfway, she
starts to drive you insane with her incessant, rabid repetition of the razorblade-sharp chorus. WTF! Fasten your seatbelts. Gush turns you upside down with this torrid turbocharger.

“I’m so sick of healing
I’m so sick of feeling
I’m so sick of healing
Healing you healing you
Can’t control my feelings
I’m so sick of healing
I’m so sick of healing you
Healing you, so sick of you
Healing you, so sick of you”
