Artist: DAVID GILMOUR
Who: The former guitarist/voice/songwriter of
the iconic Pink Floyd with who made/released
14 albums.

Solo Debut LP
DAVID GILMOUR
1978

All Music:Throughout the album Gilmour sounds like he’s having some jamming
fun with his compatriots in his own particular blues-meets-the Home Counties style,
adding keyboard overdubs here and there (his efforts are passable, but it is
understandable why he’s known for his guitar work first and foremost).”

The Telegraph (English newspaper): “The songs are cerebrally bold but really get
going when Gilmour finishes singing and launches into ambitious codas that remind
us what an extraordinarily gifted guitarist he is, with impeccable touch and tone that
can shift sublimely from tender melodiousness to flaming rock-outs.”

PINK FLOYD – Legendary Psych-Rock Giants Topped The US Charts 45 Years Ago Today With Their 11th LP ‘THE WALL’

Back in time

26 December 2024

Legendary psych-rock giants PINK FLOYD topped the US Album Charts
this day 45 years ago, on 26 December 1979 with their 11th LP THE WALL.
It occupied the top seat for 15 weeks. In the UK it peaked at #3.

The Wall is a rock opera that explores abandonment, cycles of violence, and isolation, symbolized by a wall. The songs create a storyline of events in the life of Pink, a fictional rock star based on Waters and Pink Floyd‘s former frontman Syd Barrett. The first half of the album largely features events from Waters’ childhood and young adulthood, such as the death of his father in WWII, and his wife’s infidelity.

Melody Maker (UK) wrote : “Not sure whether
it’s brilliant or terrible, but it’s utterly compelling.”

BIG BLASTS FROM THE PAST – 10 Classic Albums Turning 50 In 2025

23 December 2024

Artist: BOB DYLAN
Album: Blood On The Tracks

His fifteenth and one of his most
memorable LPs.

All Music: “This is hardly nostalgia, this is the sound of an artist returning to his strengths, what feels most familiar, as he accepts a traumatic situation, namely the breakdown of his marriage. This is an album alternately bitter, sorrowful, regretful, and peaceful, easily the closest he ever came to wearing his emotions on his sleeve.”

Pitchfork said: “Though far from their debut, the band’s 1975 self-titled album felt like a debut: a pop-rock statement and the unexpected intersection of two parallel spheres that offered something genuinely new.”

His sixth LP.

The record was dedicated to Danny Whitten, guitarist of Crazy Horse,
who wrote the song ‘I Don’t Want To Talk About It’ made famous by Rod
Stewart
.

Rolling Stone wrote: “Tonight’s the Night finds Neil Young on his knees at the top of the heap, struggling to get back to his feet… Crying over the death of his real and imagined friends, Neil Young seems at once heroic and mock heroic, brave and absurd. Like the best of both, he leaves us as he found us, ravaged but rocking.”

Her stunning debut.

Rolling Stone wrote: “Patti Smith’s debut album was a declaration of committed mutiny,
a statement of faith in the transfigurative powers of rock & roll. Horses made her the queen
of punk before it even really existed, but Smith cared more for the poetry in rock.”

ICE-T/BODY COUNT And DAVID GILMOUR Get Comfortably Numb Together

Daily noise that works faster than a stream of caffeine

23 September 2024

BODY COUNT‘s loudmouth ICE-T, according to Rolling Stone magazine, contacted both David Gilmour and Roger Waters after their publisher declined BC to record a new version with updated lyrics of Comfortably Numb from the 1979 album The Wall.

Ice-T:When we originally contacted their publisher, they said ‘no’. It was not a diss,
but kind of like ‘Pink Floyd doesn’t do samples. They don’t do ads, either.’ We were fucked.
I wasn’t going to take the lyrics and put it on another track. I was just going to burn it.”

“Once we got to David, he was like, ‘Fuck, yeah. I love this song. I approve it.’ And then
Roger listened to it and his only comment was, ‘Who’s singing?’ When he heard it was Ice-T,
he approved it.’ To have two people who sit on two opposite sides of the fence agree on a
song, that means it must be good.”

Eventually, Gilmour offered to play guitar on the new track, which
will appear on Body Count’s forthcoming album Merciless.

Ice-T about the song itself: “I can turn on and watch the war in Ukraine, or I can watch
the Israel situation, and then click off and then start watching sports. Or I could watch a
kid get murdered by a cop or somebody come out and shoot their old lady, and then play my video game. We are just kind of numb to everything that’s going on, the starvation in the world, everything. It must have struck a nerve in both of those guys. I don’t think they would have approved it had I made a record like “Comfortable Buns” or some shit.”

Wake up people,
don’t be pink numb,
count the floyd.

MOJO Magazine Presents A 100-Page PINK FLOYD Issue With Their ‘LIFE IN PICTURES’

15 May 2024

Pink Floyd: A Life In Pictures is a lavish 100-page tribute to rock’s greatest conceptualists. British music monthly MOJO tells the dumbfounded PINK FLOYD’s story as the band
often did themselves: in a succession of powerful images.

1965-1967
Playing in ballrooms

As much as they were about unbelievable music, Pink Floyd were about incredible images. When the band played their first official gig at All Saints Hall in London in 1966, they did so accompanied by a phenomenon as new as their own ever-extending R&B: a light show.

With that event begins the relationship between sound and vision you’ll see unfold before you in this lavish new magazine. Accompanied by eyewitness recollection – Floyd’s Nick Mason is a key player here – Pink Floyd: A Life In Pictures follows the band on their unlikely journey from paisley shirted improvisers to feuding multimillionaires, each with their own take on the band’s legacy.

DAVID GILMOUR Announces TOUR Dates In Support Of His Upcoming Album ‘LUCK AND STRANGE’

13 May 2024

New Uncut issue, more info here

A couple of weeks ago former Pink Floyd guitarist DAVID GILMOUR,
aged 78 now, announced a new solo album, his fifth, baptized LUCK
AND STRANGE
.
It’ll land on Earth on September 6 via Sony Music.

The 8-track album is Gilmour’s first album of new material
in nine years since his Rattle That Lock full length.

Artwork and photography by legend Anton Corbijn.

The majority of the album’s lyrics have been composed by Polly Samson,
Gilmour’s co-writer and collaborator for the past thirty years.

“It’s written from the point of view of being older; mortality is the constant.”

Along with the news came the first new track, titled Piper’s Call. A both gentle and
guitar-driven piece that brings that iconic band Pink Floyd, in the late 70s era, to mind.

.
Just now Gilmour revealed in a press statement that he’ll take the road to promote
the upcoming longplayer in London, Rome, LA and New York (probably more dates TBA).
