JUKEBOX 2026 – WEEK 17 – Five New Rad Tracks Added Twice A Week

Hello, music junkies.

Another batch of 5 new, stellar tracks have
been added to Turn Up The Volume’s Jukebox.

Listen up.

ALL TOGETHER

.
TRACK BY TRACK

Band: MORN
Who: Fresh, bloodthirsty indies
from Monmouth, South Wales.

Track: THE STANDARD MODEL
One of two new pieces, along with I Watched You As Your Mind
Slipped Far Away (Away From Me)
. Available both on 7″ vinyl
from May 1st on.

“The Standard Model’ has been with us since the birth of our band. Although it hits
hard, it’s our least serious, most purely fun and ecstatic song. We built it by stitching
two catchy riffs together”

TUTV: Blimey. Guerilla guitars explode in your face from the kick-off, followed
by a turbulent, gassed-up race, dynamized with urgent vocals. These jittery
juveniles are going places.

Keep your ears and eyes peeled.

Band: TOOTH
Who: New indie guitar rock sensation from England.

NME says: “The London four-piece have asserted themselves as
a guitar-wielding voice for a new generation with their angsty and
introspective sound.”

Track: RESTLESS IN BLOOM
Title song of their upcoming
debut EP, out in June.

TUTV: Shoegazy guitar layers, a restless rhythm section, and ardent
vocals dominate this swivel-eyed stunner until it transitions into an
unexpected, calming finale.

Up and down we go.

TUTV: Vintage Whigs torch-burner, swollen
with all-out zeal and piercing avidness.

Happy anniversary, guys.

Artist: LENNY KAYE
Who: Best known as the longtime guitarist, for
more than 50 years, of Patti Smith‘s band.

Track: GOIN’ LOCAL
At 79, and after a zillion years in the music business, Kaye will release
his solo debut album. It’ll land on July 17th. Tracklist and info here.

“I feel like I’m a new artist. I think this album will surprise those
who think they know me from what I’ve done previously.”

TUTV: Well, you’re obviously never too old to put out your debut LP.
Of course, after half a decade of electrifying Patti Smith’s backing band,
Kaye knows all the tricks to deliver some good old rock ‘n’ roll buzz.

Because the night belongs to Kaye.

streets on July 17th. More info here

OMNIGONE – Feral East Bay Hard-Ska-Core Noiseninks Swallow You In Full In Just 63 Seconds With Blitz Attack ‘QUICKSAND’

Daily noise that works faster than a stream of caffeine

4 June 2024

Adam Davis and Barry Kripene, former key members of punk-ska-hard-core band
Link 80 (1993-2002) went on to form OMNIGONE years later. So far they fabricated
2 LPs, No Faith (2019) and Against The Rest (2023).

And the East Bay noiseniks already have number three in the bag.
They baptized it Feral. I’ll shake up the world from July 26th onwards.

First taster, named QUICKSAND is a bass-infused beast of a vociferous
Molotov cocktail that swallows you in 63 seconds. Good grief!

Wake up people, time to prepare
your ears for a blitz attack.

THE BLUES EMERGENCY – Toronto’s Brutal Rockers Crank Up The Decibels On Their New Jackhammer ‘QUICKSAND’

Daily electricity to load your batteries

14 January 2024

Band: THE BLUES EMERGENCY
Who: Renegade band of misfits from Toronto channeling original music that is stylistically and sonically fitting for the ears of your mama and her misbehaving posse. Their sound is hard, cranked up, blues-rock infused with the elements of stoner-rock and psychedelia. and with socially conscious lyrics. Their debut album The Machine came out in 2017.

New single: QUICKSAND

““Quicksand” explores the devastating effects of heavy drug addiction, mental health, and homelessness that increasingly plagues our society. The title is used as a metaphor for someone struggling with these issues as they sink deeper into an abyss of darkness with a feeling of no way out. The song is a call to action for people to come together and make a real difference in the lives of those struggling with these issues by giving them a day-in-the-life view. It’s easy to judge another person when you don’t have knowledge of their past.”

TUTV: Oh my, oh my. I hope your speakers are still in great condition ’cause this blistering sledgehammer has a deafening resonance. Next to The Blues Emergeny, The Black Keys are a sugary pop band and they sound filthier than infamous noise titans Lynyrd Skynyrd ever did.

Quicksand is a brutal blues-rock bastard of a track. Tons of ruthless riffs, Herculian drumming, good old boogie woogie organs in the back, and singer Andy du Rego screaming his lungs out as if he wants to crush his demons. It’s a mid-tempo jagged jackhammer you can split concrete with. Watch out for the decibels police while you’re going out of your mind. Hells bells.
