Band: THE BLUES EMERGENCY
Who: Renegade band of misfits from Toronto channeling original music that is stylistically and sonically fitting for the ears of your mama and her misbehaving posse. Their sound is hard, cranked up, blues-rock infused with the elements of stoner-rock and psychedelia. and with socially conscious lyrics. Their debut album The Machine came out in 2017.

New single: QUICKSAND

““Quicksand” explores the devastating effects of heavy drug addiction, mental health, and homelessness that increasingly plagues our society. The title is used as a metaphor for someone struggling with these issues as they sink deeper into an abyss of darkness with a feeling of no way out. The song is a call to action for people to come together and make a real difference in the lives of those struggling with these issues by giving them a day-in-the-life view. It’s easy to judge another person when you don’t have knowledge of their past.”

TUTV: Oh my, oh my. I hope your speakers are still in great condition ’cause this blistering sledgehammer has a deafening resonance. Next to The Blues Emergeny, The Black Keys are a sugary pop band and they sound filthier than infamous noise titans Lynyrd Skynyrd ever did.

Quicksand is a brutal blues-rock bastard of a track. Tons of ruthless riffs, Herculian drumming, good old boogie woogie organs in the back, and singer Andy du Rego screaming his lungs out as if he wants to crush his demons. It’s a mid-tempo jagged jackhammer you can split concrete with. Watch out for the decibels police while you’re going out of your mind. Hells bells.
