The 5 fresh ones
TRACK BY TRACK

Band: T R Y S T E
Who: Dark-gaze duo
from Ireland.

When it comes to writing, the pair prefer to write in isolation of each other, spending time carefully crafting the song and allowing it to present itself before demoing and sharing it. From this point onwards the process becomes entirely collaborative. The result is a sound that far exceeds the sum of its parts. ‘Vessel’ is just one example of the pair’s songwriting prowess.

Track: VESSEL

TUTV: When I heard this shoegazing odyssey for the first time The Verve‘s song Storm
In Heaven
. popped in my mind. Not that it resonates similarly, but it evokes the same intensity, and the same hallucinatory impact. Vessel’s first part is like leaving Earth on
a wolly cloud, carefree and away from the busy reality.

But upon arrival, you get blown away by a mind-blowing storm of
My Bloody Valentine
guitars until the epic climax. Breathtaking.

Band: ASHINOA
Who: Experimental rock
outfit from Lyon, France.

Track: ROOM OF WHISPERS
Newest piece from their upcoming 3rd album,
titled Un’altra Forma. It lands on 28 November.

TUTV: Be ready for an intoxicating rollercoaster trip energized by repetitive Krautrock rhythms and rotating synth crescendos. I wouldn’t have minded if this had gone on for another
5 minutes. Anyway, enjoy the ride.

Artist: ALEX LITTLE
Who: Vancouver-born songwriter, raised by her musical parents on
The Replacements, Bowie, The Beatles and Iggy Pop. Talking about the
right education.

Alex first took her place behind the kit in high-school band rooms and early punk groups, later stepping forward as a singer while keeping a drummer’s instinct for dynamics. She co-founded Alex Little and the Suspicious Minds who released an album in 2021. Now it’s solo time.

Track: SOUNDS LIKE A DEAL
Single from her upcoming debut EP, titled Spider In The Sinks.
It will be out on November 19th.

TUTV: If you like brisk power pop tunes that dance in your head the whole day long,
then this is the real deal. Keywords: jaunty, frisky and pizzazy. Put your headphones,
go out, and hop from left to right, up and down, in the street. Fun guaranteed.

TUTV: Rancid lay their ace of spades on the table to honor Lemmy and his
deafening backups. Hallelujah! Turn up the heat, the amps and the decibels.

Veteran Punk-Riff Maniacs RANCID Are Still Punk-Riff Maniacs Today – 10th Album ‘TOMORROW NEVER COMES’ Out Now

4 June 2023

Californian veteran punk rockers RANCID are making lots of racket since 1991 and after the release of their 2017 album Trouble Maker they just launched number 10, entitled TOMORROW NEVER COMES.

Kerrang says: “Big choruses, bold tempos, muscular arrangements. Because for all their latter-day familiarity, Rancid are not the same band as their younger selves. ‘Eddie the Butcher was a stevedore / We sailed together on the Singapore shore,’ sings Tim Armstrong on the quite wonderful New American. Time was this group were criticised for what their detractors imagined – wrongly, as it goes – to be a likeness to The Clash, but in the 21st century they’ve become as evocative as The Pogues. An ageless punk rock poet he may be, but on Tim, advanced middle-age is a good look.” Score: 4/5.

TUTV: The middle-aged noise crusaders from the sunny state started as punk-riff maniacs 32 years ago, and they’re still punk-riff maniacs today. But not just that alone, they still come up with cast iron juggernauts that incite chaotic moshpits and triggers many lungs to blow up when scream-yell-bellow along choruses fly all over the place. I just wonder if their grandchildren are Rancid fans too.

Wakening Up With Punk-Riff Maniacs RANCID And An 58 Sconds Scream Contest

Daily noise that works faster than any stimulant

Californian veteran punk rockers RANCID are making lots of racket since 1991 and after the release of their 2017 album Trouble Maker they’re ready for their 10th longplayer, titled TOMORROW NEVER COMES. It lands on June 2.

Hellcat Records: “Rancid – the legendary Bay Area punk rockers are back with their 10th studio album. Emerging from the blue-collar swamps of Berkeley, California, Rancid has now been a living, breathing punk rock band for over a quarter century. Through it all, Rancid has remained fiercely independent, never losing their loyalty to community or each other. Their music confronts political and social issues, while balancing personal tales of love, loss, and heartbreak with attitude. Rancid gives their listeners a community where everyone can belong. By carrying on the traditions and spirit of the original punk rock bands that came before, Rancid has become a legend and inspiration to punk bands that have come after. They are the living They are the living embodiment of East Bay punk. And if you don’t know all this by now, you’re not playing their music loud enough!”

Following the title track Rancid drop a second bomb called
DON’T MAKE ME DO IT. A three-vocal scream contest that
only lasts for 58 seconds.

Make some noizzzzzzz.
