The frontcover of red hot chili pepper FLEA‘s upcoming
solo full-length, named Honora, out March 27th.
Flea: “The cover is a photograph of my beautiful mother-in-law, in Iran in
the late 60’s, Shahin. Shahin is a strong Persian woman, and the spirit of
a free Iran lives in her heart.”
This is the the 2nd shared single, featuring radio head Thom Yorke.
The album contained no less than 6 singles, including the title track that came out a year later, on May 20th, this day 25 years ago. It peaked at #69 in the US and at #16 in the UK.
RADIOGEIST is a muscular London-based rock trio who
love to embed inflammable emotions into a riff-roasting
racket of decibels. They released their debut album 8 (ball)
last February.
And now they’re back to remember a dear friend they lost many years ago with
a cover of mega hitUNDER THE Bridge (actually a poem frontman Kiedis found somewhere and that reflected his emotions of his early addiction times) by mega
band Red Hot Chili Peppers. Radiogeist turn all burners and cylinders on for their
version, but keep the original poignant passion intact. Yeah!
The Californian heroes released their 2nd double LP of the year a few weeks ago.
It’s called Return Of The Dream Canteen and it sounds as a collection of songs
that didn’t make their last 5 or so longplayers.
To make sure that everyone agrees on that, they lifted a new single
off the double LP. It’s named The Shape I’m Takin’ and it’s boring.
Album: BLUSH– their debut Released: 14 October 2022 – order info here
DIY magazine: “A collection of wonderful and curious songs perfect
for soundtracking that 3am dancefloor feeling – or maybe just your
nightmares.” Score: 4/5.
TUTV: Old skool dance/techno, but it works.
Open the old skool discos again!
Juliette Jackson (voice/songwriter) about the album: “So much of the album I wrote
while I was pregnant and basically just wondering what the hell this was going to be like.
When I listen to it now, I can hear myself saying all these things and having all these anxieties. Those songs are a bit more floaty and just thinking about things and the songs I wrote after are more like the reality of extreme highs and extreme lows and the whole hormonal madness.”
NME: “Lead singer Juliette Jackson’s pregnancy – and the band’s “recommitment” to each other – make the songwriting on album three immensely personal… From their pen through to their sound, ‘Here Is Everything’ is emotive and glossy; one that gives space to breathe in this busy world… Their deepest, most emotional album yet.” Score: 4/5.
Key single/slcip: Wide Eyes
TUTV: Their 3rd, their absolute best.
A blissful pop achievement.

Looks like the cover artwork was designed in the 60s for the Summer Of Love
The new one is baptized RETURN OF THE DREAM CANTEEN and sounds
like the previous one, and the previsous one and the previsious one.
As the cliché goes it’s ‘a fan album’.
Rolling Stone Magazine: “At 75 minutes is even longer than its predecessor,
is essentially “Unlimited Love II.” it’s a bit of a stop-gap, but also a nice coda.”
Score: 3.5/5.
TUTV: I just made a compilation of the best 12 tunes of both
double albums. Guess what? It’s one of the best RHC albums
I ever heard.
It includes a 7″ with two previously unreleased tracks of which
you can hear OCEANS OF DARKNESS here. A zealous roller.

Band: PLASMAS Who: Up and coming indie 4-piece
from Dundee, Scotland.
Single: WHAT YOU DO TO ME
A cut from their upcoming debut EP ‘A Summer’s Day Can Break Your Heart’, out 21 October.
Ross McQueen (singer/songwriter) “This is pretty hard for me to talk about, but I wrote this song about having feelings for another guy, and not knowing how to deal with it. It’s about the guilt that came with it and being unsure where I fit in amongst society. I had always considered myself straight and didn’t really feel like I could exist in any LGBTQ+ spaces. I felt like an imposter. I just remember being so confused, there was this social commentary screaming “be yourself” and “be open about your sexuality” all over the place and I just thought, “what if I can never be like that?”. ”
The track is a fuzzy, feel-good indie anthem – think The Jesus and Mary Chain in
a happy mood – that nods to shoegaze greats past while shooting for the moon
on a synth-powered rocket.
Between their 11th LP The Getaway and this year’s double one Unlimited Love,
there was a time gap of six years and now RHCP are gearing up for their 2nd double album this year. Good job, guys.
One of the tracks is called EDDIE in memory of guitar wizard Eddie Van Halen who passed away (almost) 2 years ago.
Anthony Kiedis ‘frontman): “Sometimes we don’t realize how deeply affected and connected we are to artists until the day they die. Eddie Van Halen was a one of a kind. The day after his death Flea came into rehearsal with an emotional bassline. John, Chad and I started playing along and pretty soon with all our hearts, a song in his honor effortlessly unfolded. It felt good to be sad and care so much about a person who had given so much to our lives. Although the song doesn’t speak to Eddie by name, it talks about his early days on the Sunset Strip and the rock n roll tapestry that Van Halen painted on our minds. In the end, our song asks that you not remember Eddie for dying but for living his wildest dream.”
