Infamous Thrash Rockers ROYAL TRUX Return With Cocksure And Brash New Album ‘WHITE STUFF’…

2 March 2019

Finally after 19 years infamous Washington D.C. rockers ROYAL TRUX – duo Jennifer Herrema and former spouse Neil Hagerty – return with a new gloriously trash ‘n’ roll
beast. It was catapulted on the Internet yesterday and I had it on repeat since. All the unleashed tracks that preceded the LP’s release confirmed loud and clear the duo’s new greedy appetite to rattle, rumble, roar, spit and sneer in chaotic duet. The first 2 singles, opener and stomping title track White Stuff and rowdy slam The Year Of The Dog are vintage Trux dirt. Nasty, brash, cocksure and in your face. Perfect shit to start the record!

To catch a bit of breath, turbulent mid-slow broken blues injected grooves Purple Audacity #2 and Suburban Junky Lady (obviously on too much White Stuff) kick in
and move like vicious serpents on a destructive mission. After the funky tumult of
Shoes And Tags comes a surprising rap beat Get Used To It featuring Keith Kool (and already previewed when the pair reunited in 2015). Next up, one of my faves, the greasy Sic Em Slow , followed by the droning Every Day Swan’ (also from the 2015 comeback) and tumultuous wallop Whopper Dave . Barbed wire stroke Purple Audacity #2 has a tumultuous Sonic Youth impact and closer ‘Under Ice‘is pure Royal Trux swagger. I need another couple of spins to discover all crazed hullabaloo details, but one bloody fact is already indisputable. Royal Trux flabbergasted comeback is a stunning achievement. Join me and get intoxicating yourself. Right here, right now…

ROYAL TRUX Drops Another Thashy Slam From New LP – Here’s ‘YEAR OF THE DOG’…

Brand new sonic impulses

4 February 2019

Messy rockers ROYAL TRUXJennifer Herrema and Neil Hagerty – confirmed their brand new album, entitled WHITE STUFF some weeks ago when they dropped the vicious title track. Today they launched another nasty jam. Tomorrow, 5th February, it’s Chinese New Year meaning today is the last day of THE YEAR OF THE DOG. Royal Trux celebrates this day with their homonymous, freshly shared rock ‘n’ roll molotov cocktail. A boiling slam with wicked hooks, pumping percussion and a sneering chorus. Charged stuff, glutinous
as first-class glue. I wonder if the fierce duo also wrote a song about The Year Of The Pig , China’s 2019 animal.

Anyway, you can walk the dog right here…

Infamous Trash Rockers ROYAL TRUX Return With New Album – Here’s Title Track ‘WHITE STUFF’…

New sonic impulses

7 January 2019

Washington D.C.‘s filthiest rockers ROYAL TRUXJennifer Herrema and Neil Hagerty – shared two new tracks last year, the messy banger Every Day Swan and Get Used To This feat. rapper Kool Keith after they reunited in 2015 to play live again (Turn Up the Volume! saw them in Ghent, Belgium in 2017 – review here).

Today the turbulent duo confirmed that a brand new album, entitled WHITE STUFF will
hit the streets in March via Fat Possum Records. All details here. Ahead of it here’s the pounding title track. A vicious rocker with both Herrema and Hagerty barking rather than singing. Hell Bloody Yeah! Hefty stuff! Welcome back. Here we go….

ROYAL TRUX – Legendary Underground Trash Blues Duo Is Back… ALIVE

ROYAL TRUX – DOK, Ghent, Belgium – 7 June 2017

After 17 years chaotic blues rock duo ROYAL TRUXNeil Hagerty and Jennifer Herrema – is back with a ‘new’ album. PLATINUM TIPS + ICE CREAM is actually a live album with recent recordings of old songs from a concert in New York and one in Los Angeles . It will be out 16 June via Drag City. Here’s a sludgy taste…

.
And in support of that fresh record the ex-junkies & ex-lovers, with a lot of noisy help from a cracking guitarist and a smashing drummer, are back on the road. Last Wednesday they landed in my hometown Ghent. Definitely hefty to see them alive (they look pretty healthy after all these years) and back on stage again. What we got was what we wanted. Forty-five minutes of anarchic and trashy blues garbage. No special effects and perfectly out of tune. Raw, destructive and gloriously crude. Like a mix of filthy Stooges, some deranged Captain Beefheart havoc and Herrema growling and snarling like a tortured reincarnation of Janis Joplin with a ‘who the fuck cares‘ attitude. Hell yeah! Something like this (but much louder)…

Picture this…

A smoke, a drink and lots of roars…

So happy together again…

Fans in trance…

Nice boots, Jennifer…
