SLIFT – French Noizz Freaks Take Greedy Charlatans On A Flight To A Doomed Universe With ‘NIMH’

Daily electricity to load your batteries

7 December 2023

French noizz freaks SLIFT are warming up for their third
full length. It’s named ILION and will hit the streets
on 19th January via Sub Pop.

Following the title track, the high-voltage trio
just dropped taster number 2. It’s titled NIMH.

Slift: “It’s a piece that talks about men’s slow but certain descent towards total madness.
To illustrate this, the song tells the story of the drift through space of a ship, the ‘Nimh,’ and
its crew, which is made up of leaders of huge corporations and anyone who has accumulated
a lot of money on Earth. They set off for what they think will be a new world but never arrive at their destination. The gods of Time are facetious. The song is sung by the people left on Earth, prophesying this failure, abandoned to live on this barren planet entering the last millennia of its existence. As surprising as it may seem, we had Nina Simone in mind when writing a good part of the piece, especially the second part. To support the song’s subject, we also pushed our psych-rock towards bands.”

TUTV: If you despise traditional Xmas carols, you should try this draconic jam.
With their spaceship Nimh the French noizz freaks shoot greedy corporate
charlatans on a fateful trip into a doomed universe while their ears are tortured
by an armada of psychedelic warriors.

A vitriolic combination of walls of guitars, sick drumming and horrific growls cause deafening decibels. At the 6.30 mark, they let us believe for a short while that they
do like Xmas hymns with a sort of angelic intermezzo, but it’s actually a bridge to a monstrous climax. Hells jingle bells.

Waking Up With Psych Prog Rock Generator SLIFT And Their New Burst ‘ILION’

Daily noise that works faster than any stimulant

7 October 2023

French psych-prog-rock generator SLIFT announced their 6th LP,
named ILION. Along with the news comes the title track.

About:It’s the opening track and the first song we composed for this record. Due to its structure in “drawers,” with different movements, it represents the album as a whole. It
depicts monuments to ancient gods rising skyward from the dusty desert floor of a dying
planet, battered by fierce winds. It’s about the people condemned to live on this desolate land. And about the murderers of this world, who leave it for space and the hope of a new world, in
a frantic crusade which will lead them to madness.

It’s an 11-minute escapade that zigzags with ups and downs, loud and silent fragments,
and an overall what the fuck is going on resonance. King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard will
love this crazy chaos.

Press play.
