Steve Winwood was born on 12 May 1948 in Birmingham, England.

Happy 75 to one of the greatest voices in rock ever. He started as
a 16-year-old teenager with The Spencer Davis Group (1963-1966),
formed Traffic (1967-1968),and was part of the one-time supergroup
Blind Faith (1969). He started his triumphant solo career with his
debut LP in 1977.

Today 55 years ago, on 14 April 1966 British beat band SPENCER DAVIS GROUP,
named after its Welsh founder and guitarist Spencer Davis (R.I.P.), topped the
UK Singles Chart with SOMEBODY HELP ME. A song written by Jamaican musician
Jackie Edwards.

It was also the first band of mighty soul voice Steve Winwood – only 16 at the time.
