THE CLASH In Colours 45 Years Ago
Talking about colored vinyl.
7 different ones for their 1978 single (45 years ago)
(WHITE MAN) IN HAMMERSMITH PALAIS
One, two
One, two, three, four
Midnight to six man
For the first time from Jamaica
Dillinger and leroy smart
Delroy wilson, your cool operator
Ken boothe for UK pop reggae
With backing bands sound systems
If they’ve got anything to say
There’s many black ears here to listen
But it was four tops all night with encores from stage righten (wooh, ooh, ooh)
Charging from the bass knives to the treble (wooh, ooh, ooh)
But onstage they ain’t got no roots rock rebel (wooh, ooh, ooh)
Onstage they ain’t got no roots rock rebel
Dress back jump back this is a bluebeat attack
‘Cos it won’t get you anywhere
Fooling with the gun
The british army is waiting out there
An’ it weighs fifteen hundred tons
White youth, black youth
Better find another solution
Why not phone up robin hood
And ask him for some wealth distribution
Punk rockers in the UK
They won’t notice anyway
They’re all too busy fighting
For a good place under the lighting
The new groups are not concerned
With what there is to be learned
They got burton suits, huh, you think it’s funny
Turning rebellion into money
All over people changing their votes
Along with their overcoats
If Adolf Hitler flew in today
They’d send a limousine anyway
I’m the all night drug-prowling wolf
Who looks so sick in the sun
I’m the white man in the palais
Just loo- lookin’ for fun
Only lookin’ for fun
Oh, please mister
Just leave me alone
I’m only
Lookin’ for fun
Lookin’ for fun
F, U, N

THE CLASH Released Their Magnum Opus ‘LONDON CALLING’ 44 Years Ago Today
14 December 2023
London‘s punk icons THE CLASH released their magnum opus, double LP LONDON CALLING 44 years ago today, on 14 December 1979. A monumental record with the band mixing a lot of different musical genres such as reggae, rockabilly, ska, New Orleans R&B, pop and lounge jazz.
Lyrically, the songs were about social issues like inequality, unemployment, racial conflicts, drug abuse and our climate’s ugly future. The final result was a bold, multi-faceted, and overall a astonishing achievement. A pure classic. It scored big time, worldwide, with sales of over five million copies.
Rolling Stone wrote: “Merry and tough, passionate and large-spirited, London Calling celebrates the romance of rock & roll rebellion in grand, epic terms. It doesn’t merely reaffirm the Clash’s own commitment to rock-as-revolution. Instead, the record ranges across the whole of rock & roll’s past for its sound, and digs deeply into rock legend, history, politics and myth for its images and themes.”

THE CLASH – The Last Gang In Town Released Their 2nd Album ‘GIVE ‘EM ENOUGH ROPE’ 45 Years Ago Today
Back in time
10 November 2023
Iconic class city rockers THE CLASH fronted by the late great Joe Strummer (1952 – 2002) released their 2nd LP GIVE ‘EM ENOUGH ROPE 45 years ago today, on 10 November 1978.
AllMusic wrote: “For their second album, The Clash worked with the American hard rock producer Sandy Pearlman, best-known for his work with Blue Öyster Cult and the Dictators.
The teaming was quite controversial within the punk community, and the sound of Give ‘Em Enough Rope is considerably cleaner, yet the more direct sound hardly tamed the Clash. While the record doesn’t burn with the same intense, amateurish energy of The Clash, it does have a big, forceful sound that is nearly as powerful.”
TUTV says: The production was a bit over the top, aimed at conquering
hard rock America. It’s not their best (well, their debut LP and, of course,
London Calling were unbeatable). Yet, it featured some clashing tracks such
as Safe European Home / Tommy Gun / Last Gang In Town / Stay Free.

THE CLASH Had A ‘WHITE RIOT’ 46 Years Ago Today
Great 7″ singles from the past
18 March 2023
Today 46 years ago, on 18 March 1977, legendary gang THE CLASH released their
barbed debut single WHITE RIOT. A furious and timeless punk anthem. This dynamite outburst was inspired by riots in August 1976 in London’s Notting Hill Gate area involving Jamaican residents and the police after continuous tensions due to racist policing. Joe Strummer and Paul Simonon were present that day and participated in the fights, sympathizing with the black locals’ cause.
With ‘White Riot‘ the late, great Strummer wanted to encourage also white people who
felt abused and oppressed by the government to come out and protest. ‘White Riot‘ only reached #38 at the time it came out but got his classic status over the following years.
B-side: 1977. Time to, scream out loud, folks…
White riot – I want to riot
White riot – a riot of my own
