Melancholic Symphony – THE FLAMING LIPS Drop Another New Track From Their Upcoming LP

New sonic impulses…

29 August 2020

The surreal fairy tale daydreamers THE FLAMING LIPS launch their new album American Head on 9/11. With the five tracks (watch/listen below) we already heard it sounds like The Lips will spoil us with one of their most affecting works ever. A sort of moody masterpiece.

And this sixth new song, titled MOTHER PLEASE DON’T BE SAD follows in the sonic footsteps of the other five tracks. A melodramatic and melancholic symphony.

“Mother please don’t be sad/ I didn’t mean to die tonight / But those robbers were so fast/
Their guns and their anger comes and I lost the fight.”

29 May 2020

THE FLAMING LIPS, the Oklahoma experts of turning surreal fairy-tales into melo-dramatic gems have already been busy this year. They worked with Californian blues-
rock tandem Deap Vally on one of this year’s best albums under the moniker of Deap Lips and covered He Stopped Loving Her Today, a heartbreaking reverie by country legend George Jones for the movie Arkansas.

And now they shared a new sensitive diamond. A vintage Flaming Lips ballad
to dream away to, called ‘FLOWERS OF NEPTUNE 6’. Sit down, relax and enjoy…

Last week DEAP LIPS, the awesome collaboration between surreal fairytale addicts
THE FLAMING LIPS and steamy blues rock tandem DEAP VALLY, unleashed their
fabulous self-titled debut album. Without a shadow of a doubt one of the coolest longplayers of the year.

The supergroup launched an intoxicating video clip for one of the tracks, their spaced-
out cover version of ‘THE PUSHER‘, an anti-dope-dealer song by born to be wild rockers Steppenwolf . Open your mind, eyes and ears and fly eight miles high…

Flaming Supergroup DEAP LIPS Surprises With Self-Titled Delirious Debut LP

14 March 2020

At the end of last year came the startling news that female Californian blues-rock
turbo DEAP VALLY and frontman Wayne Coyne & multi-instrumentalist Steven Drozd
of Oklahoma‘s wayward and Wizard of Oz psych rockers THE FLAMING LIPS teamed
up for a collaboration called DEAP LIPS.

Yesterday the surprising supergroup unleashed their magical, self-titled debut album sounding overall like The Flaming Lips fronted by Deap Vally‘s mesmeric vocalist Lindsey
Troy
whose magnetic voice never resonated that magical and arresting. She takes the many otherworldly Lips lullabies to a spellbinding level. Check outstanding musings
Shit Talkin‘, ‘Hope Hell High’, ‘Love Is A Mind Control‘, ‘Home Thru Hell‘ and the captivating, psychedelic reflection ‘There Is Know Right There Is Know Wrong‘ and you’ll know exactly what I mean. Add cutting mantra ‘Motherfuckers Got To Go’ and trippy synth tunes ‘Not
A Natural Man’
and ‘One Thousand Sisters With Aluminum Foil Calculators’ and what you
get is a most arresting record for the midnight hours. Delirious transcendence! Top!

DEAP LIPS With Crystal Clear Mantra ‘MOTHERFUCKERS GOT TO GO’ From Their Upcoming Album…

Daily fuel to load your sonic batteries…

2 March 2020

Only two weeks to go before the utterly cool project DEAP LIPS consisting of
Californian female blues-rock duo DEAP VALLY and frontman Wayne Coyne
and multi-instrumentalist Steven Drozd of Oklahoma’s kooky psych rockers
THE FLAMING LIPS will launch their self-titled album.

The stellar supergroup shared two great tracks so far. Riveting ballad
Hope Hell High‘ and cracking Yahama stroke ‘Home Thru Hell’.

And here’s another new one. ‘MOTHERFUCKERS GOT TO GO’ is a mantra-like
stomper with Lindsey Troy‘s repeating the song’s title over and over again with
her threatening vox growing in kick-ass intensity along the way. With what we
heard so far I’m quite confident that an astonishing album is coming our way.
Hell Yeah!

‘Yoshimi Battles The Pink Robots’ – Tenth Album By THE FLAMING LIPS (2002)

Old and new albums to make your day

12 February 2020

Band: The Flaming Lips

Album: Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots – the band’s tenth LP

Released: 16 July 2002

AllMusic wrote: “After the symphonic majesty of  ‘The Soft Bulletin’, the Flaming Lips
return with Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots, a sublime fusion of Bulletin’s newfound
emotional directness, the old-school playfulness of Transmissions From the Satellite
Heart, and, more importantly, exciting new expressions of the group’s sentimental,
experimental sound. Funny, beautiful, and moving, ‘Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots’
finds The Flaming Lips continuing to grow and challenge themselves in not-so
obvious ways after delivering their obvious masterpiece.”

Turn Up The Volume: One of my all-time favorite bands on record and live. This is
their second-best longplayer after their outstanding tour de force The Soft Bulletin‘, released three years before. It sounds like listening to a sonic science fiction fairy tale
with lots of blissful and starry-eyed reveries, wondrous stories and magical orchestrations.

The singles: Do You Realize? / Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots Pt. 1 / Fight Test / Ego Tripping at the Gates of Hell
