The trio studied the history of Norwegian witch trials,
and they incorporate that history into their music.
Nikoline Spjelkavik (guitarist): “The more we read about it, the more eager
we were to speak the words of these women. To really try to hear them, what
they would think and say in society today, what they would stand for.”
The band also tackle modern-day issues, like
environmentalism and the Gaza massacre.
“If you’re making art at this time you have to address the global, you have to show
where you stand: that you stand for all human lives and no one should be oppressed.
The feeling that music should be unpolitical to me feels impossible.”
“We want to show that love and care can be stronger weapons. We’re exploring gentleness
as a resistance movement. But it’s also about contrast — the world is scarred by war, where the violence seeps into those who care. When you care, you’re marked by the violence taking place. But through that awareness, we’re trying to show that the cycle of violence can be stopped.” “In a world heavily influenced by an aggressive macho culture,” they continue, “belonging, empathy, and love become forces of resistance in and of themselves.”
TUTV: Black metal isn’t really my genre. But now and then I can dig the otherworldly
and demonic earthquake energy of it. Also I do like what this band stands for. And
then you have this sensational video clip for the new single.
Whether you like or not, these witches

Californian nu metal dinosaurs PAPA ROACH produce roaring racket

Back in January, they unleashed a new
cluster bomb single with Even If It Kills Me.
Now the roaches follow it with

John Dwyer: “Well this album just channelled out of the mist of atrocities swirling
around the planet right now. AI empathy, genocides, social media data collection and
addiction, the alignment of tech billionaires with the fascist overlords and their armada
of dogs, civilians being kidnapped by bootlicking thugs, the death of due process…the list
goes on and on. It’s been a long year already.”
Wake-up people, Osees will riff your sleepy head off
faster than you can say holy molly, this reckless speedball
drives me meshuga.
First single from their upcoming 5th album,
titled Only Slightly Empty. It comes our way
on September 29.
Tony Esposito (vocalist/guitarist): “I do think a lot of this record is about me musically trying to deal with a lot of things that I was feeling but wasn’t talking about. “‘Honestly’ is sort of me making fun of myself and my issues with conflict. The verses and choruses are totally opposite messages from each other — like how sometimes you might talk big behind someone’s back
but then face to face you get more reserved.”

Belfast‘s sharp-mouthed, notorious rap team KNEECAP – Mo Chara,
Móglaí Bap, and DJ Próvaí – hip & hop around with a knife between
their teeth since 2017.
They released their debut album 3cag in 2018
and went viral last year with follow-up Fine Art.
Lately, they make headlines with their loud and clear, ongoing support for Palestine.
They got heavily critiqued for it when they played Coachella Festival in Indo, California last April.
Then the UK’s right wing politicians jumped into it, and prosecuted Mo Chara after allegedly displaying a flag in support of Hezbollah last November (no verdict yet), and tried to get them banned from playing Glastonbury Festival next week. It gained them, rightly so, countless support from musical colleagues and fans.
To emphasize the whole political charade, the band just released a new single, named THE RECAP, going after Tory politician, business and trade minister Kemi Badenoch who started to hunt them back in 2023 when he withdrew an arts grant awarded to the band.
The trio brought a discrimination case against the U.K. government
and won, donating the proceeds to Belfast community groups. Yes!
Mac McCaughan (singer/guitrist): “The last…10 (?) years have
given us plenty of material for crushing nights and endless days,
and this rollercoaster is only going down at the moment, but
here we are singing.”

88-year-old bluesman BUDDY GUY was born in Lettsworth, Louisiana,. The guitar/singer icon was an exponent of Chicago Blues who has influenced generations of guitarists including Eric Clapton, Jimi Hendrix, Jimmy Page, Keith Richards, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Jeff
Beck, Gary Clark Jr. and John Mayer.
He started his musical odyssey back in 1953 and cruised through 19 albums, countless tours and multiple collaborations. But blues pioneers like this one never settle down. On his 89th birthday, on July 30th, he’ll launch his 20th LP. It’s fittingly named Ain’t Done
With The Blues.
“This album is about where I’ve been, it’s about where I’m going, and the people I learned everything from. Muddy, Wolf, Walter, Sonny Boy, BB, I could go on and on. Before they passed, they used to say, ‘Man, if you outlive me, just keep the Blues alive,’ and I’m trying to keep that promise. Now, I can’t kick my leg up high as I used to, or jump off the stage like I did in my 20’s and 30’s, but I’m going to give you everything I got as long as I got it.”
Joe Walsh – FB
Guests include the Blind Boys Of Alabama, Peter Frampton, Christone “Kingfish” Ingram, Joe Bonamassa, and, on the lead single HOW BLUES IS THAT, we have awesome Eagles axemanJoe Walsh.
Wake up, people
it’s never too late
for some smoking
blues swagger.
For the occasion, the Californian gang re-recorded a version of the album’s huge
power ballad hit HOME SWEET HOME (more than 275 million streams on Spotify).
The surprising fact is that they invited iconic country star Dolly Parton to do the vocals.
I love it for 2 reasons. The weird but cool collaboration itself and Parton‘s always-striking voice.
The new version of the song will be on a forthcoming greatest hits collection called From The Beginning.
