Brighton‘s intense indie stars SQUID released
their 3rd LP, called Cowards last February.

NME said: “The band get freakier and proggier. Their third studio album
is a collection of vignettes about cult leaders, sociopaths and cannibals.”

Today they make their huge fanbase happy with an outtake
of the album, titled THE HEARTH AND CIRCLE ROUND.

Ollie Judge (vocalist and drummer): “It’s a punky tune that came together quite easily but we felt dissatisfied with that ease and decided to record it as a 15 minute jam, rip it apart and tape it back together. Lyrically, it was inspired by the dystopian worlds of Ray Bradbury’s Fahrenheit 451 and Kay Dick’s They, worlds which everyday people succumb to mass censorship and propaganda with only a small amount of people willing to fight against it.”

Wake up and join
Squid‘s switchback.

Along with the announcement came the first single Still Dancing, a nod
to his first band Generation X’s 1981 hit Dancing With Myself, which he
kept playing as he went solo.

For the 2nd and probably final appetizer, he offers us his duet with rock chick Avril Lavigne. Together they go strong on retro roller 77, the year punk toke over the world.

Last weekend Coachella Festival (Coachella Valley, Indio, California) experienced its
first weekend of its 24th edition featuring techno titans THE PRODIGY who lost their
main frontman Keith Flint 5 years ago when he took his own life (March 2019).

After the fateful event the band, obviously, needed a break to mourn and reflect.

In the summer of 2022, they announced their return to the stage with a 10-date tour
of the UK, to coincide with the 25th anniversary of their 3rd LP The Fat Of The Land.

Last February the band told in a press statement
that a new album is coming sometime this year.

And last Friday they breathed at
Coachella Fest and shocked the
desert.

New album artwork

Sheffield‘s guitar-pop heroes PULP released between 1983 and 2002, seven
good-to-superb albums, with the breakthrough one Different Class, turning

Common People and Disco 2000.

Afterward the band went on a long hiatus, used by
charismatic vocalist/songwriter Jarvis Cocker to start
some solo projects.

They reunited for 2 years (2011-2013), to play some huge
big money concerts, went away again and are doing the
reunion game again since 2022.

And now the surprising news. Pulp have canned their first LP

on June 6th.

Along with the unexpected announcement comes lead single
SPIKE ISLAND. A vintage, mid-tempo, pop thrill with a grandiose
chorus.

Daily noise that works faster than a stream of caffeine

10 April 2025

Press photo by Damien Sayell

Welsh notorious post-punk noiseniks MCLUSKY, fronted by Andrew Falkous,
made a loud and clear mark on the indie list of decibels-producing acts between
1993 and 2004 with three ear-piercing and politically loaded albums.

Then Falkous formed another blaring group, named Future Of The Left,
including his wife on bass. They fabricated 5 full CDs and then went silent.

New album artwork

In 2015 Mclusky suddenly returned for a benefit gig in London and played
some more here and there. In 2023, they released a new 4-track EP, called
Unpopular Parts Of A Pig / The Digger You Deep to fund a delayed US tour.

And now, as announced a couple of weeks ago album #4 is recorded, titled
The World Is Still Here And So Are We and will shock our stereos on May 9th.

Ahead of it we get the 4th spicy appetizer with CHEKHOV’S GUNS.
