Edith Victoria (vocalist) about the inspiration for the song: “I learned many hard lessons, like how some people in the industry don’t necessarily care about you, but only about what
they can get from you. Once they believe you no longer serve them, they won’t think twice to drop you in your most vulnerable state. I cried more than ever, and worked tirelessly and endlessly to become the better version of what I once was.”

Wheeler about the song: “We’re so in love with our smartphones that we’ve willingly given away our privacy and our autonomy.  We allow our every move to be monitored by big tech, strangers, ex-lovers, family, friends, etc. It’s scary shit and I’m often struck by how weird it
really is. We’re complacent with our loss of solitude.”

Who: Three splashy Los Angeles rock chicks. Izzy Glaudini, Halle Saxon, and
Lola Dompé (daughter of Bauhaus drummer Kevin Haskins. They got together
in 2017 and named themselves after a from the Go-Go‘s album Beauty and
the Beat from 1981.

Track: BLACK BOX
Final taster from their upcoming album Is It Now?, out this Friday.
The trio hasn’t wasted time since their formation. This is their 3rd
full-length in 5 years.

Glaudini: “The repetitive synth is supposed to suggest a plane gliding as it crashes, an alarm distress call. I was listening to the Leonard Cohen album The Future a lot around the time the lyrics were written.

It’s a pretty straightforward critique of people that have sold out on a large scale, specifically within creative industries. Thierry Mugler said, “art used to tell money what to do, now money tells art what to do” and the world is a less interesting place because of it.”

TUTV: I never thought a plane’s black box would ever be the topic of a song.
Whatever, the box produces some pretty funky dance-infused beats which are
ideal to get up and make your first moves of another day on this cursed planet.

for the first time this year and was devastated by it. I told her every woman I love
and respect has been called that and worse just for existing, so reclaim it and wear
it as a badge of honor.

That inspired me to take all the insults I’ve received over the years and turn them
into a source of power instead. This song is my rally cry for all the so-called ‘bitches.’”

Californian celeb duo TUNE-YARDS stylized as tUnE-yArDs of Merrill Garbus (vocals,
various instruments) and Nate Brenner (bass, various instruments) are a bona
fide name for a while now, actually, since 2006.

Their unbounded and inventive approach to dance music is applauded all over the globe.

Only last May, they launched their 6th LP, called Better Dreaming, and the tandem already returns with a 4-track EP, titled TELL THE FUTURE WITH YOUR BOD,Y with songs coming from the album sessions. Stream them here.

SAND INTO STONE is the EP’s stand-out track to my ears. A sassy, drum/bass-energized dancefloor stomper juiced with Garbus‘ singular vocals, dubbed over and over again. Get your lazy butt out of bed and boogie yourself dizzy, folks.

Despite the fact that rock luminaries THE SMASHING PUMPKINS took a 6-year break between 2000-2006 it feels like Billy Corgan (now 58) and his troops have been around
for ages (actually since 1988) without a day off.

Last year, they launched their 13th album
Aghori Mhori Mei and started a very long
tour (still going).

Yet, inbetween, they found some space and time to record a brand-new juggernaut,
titled CHROME JETS. It’s pumpkins by heavy numbers. For the umpteenth time, they
build their trademark wall-of-bulldozing sound again and let the jets fly all over it.

Nothing new under the sun, but good enough to soundtrack
your breakfast and get yourself going to carry another day.

Who: Weathered high-volume veteran goth rockers
from Ukiah, California who started to turn up the
darkwave decibels in 1991.

Famous old skool gangsta rap star and actor/film producer ICE CUBE (born, named O’Shea Jackson Sr. in Los Angeles 56 years ago) is on a roll. Last year, in November, he released his 11th solo LP, his first in 6 years, titled Man Down and he already has the follow-up, named MAN UP ready for launching on September 12th.
