WHITE REAPER – Kentucky’s Garage Rockers Are Cooking On New Single ‘HONESTLY’

Daily noise that works faster than a stream of caffeine

26 June 2025

Band: WHITE REAPER
Who: Garage punk biggies
from Louisville, Kentucky.

Track: HONESTLY

First single from their upcoming 5th album,
titled Only Slightly Empty. It comes our way
on September 29.

Tony Esposito (vocalist/guitarist): “I do think a lot of this record is about me musically trying to deal with a lot of things that I was feeling but wasn’t talking about. “‘Honestly’ is sort of me making fun of myself and my issues with conflict. The verses and choruses are totally opposite messages from each other — like how sometimes you might talk big behind someone’s back
but then face to face you get more reserved.”

Wake up people,
your fav grim reaper
is in da house.

Louisville Rockers WHITE REAPER Cover 80s British Underrated Indies THE SOUND

6 March 2024

Last year Louisville‘s scathing garage noiseniks WHITE REAPER released their
4th LP Asking For A Ride and promote on the road as support act to Weezer.

They now join the long queue of artists doing covers.

They picked I CAN’T HELP MYSELF. The opener of the1980 debut longplayer
Jeopardy by British post-punk indies THE SOUND fronted by the unfortunate
Adrian Boland who took his own life in 1999, aged 41.

Esposito (guitarist) : ““We wanted to put something out and we didn’t have an album
yet so we covered a song that we love. We’ve done this before and we’ll probably do it
again. The Sound is a really great band and you should check them out if you’re unfamiliar.”

The White Reaper‘s version is a respectful tribute
to one of the most underrated indie bands ever.

Kentucky Garage Punks WHITE REAPER Back In Town With 4th LP ‘ASKING FOR A RIDE’

12 February 2023

Band: WHITE REAPER
Who: Garage punks from Louisville, Kentucky
Active: Since 2012 / 4 LPs (new one included)

New album: Asking For A Ride
Released: 27 January 2023 – order here

Pitchfork says: “The Louisville rock band refines its major-label sound on a brief but
charming new album: It hits hardest when you don’t think too much about it. It’s a refinement of the Major Label White Reaper Sound, where the hooks and melodies are undeniable and now include some Kiss-sized muscle. At its best, Asking for a Ride confirms that they have evolved from writing songs daydreaming of playing stadiums to writing songs that would sound huge in one. But at 29 minutes, this is their shortest album, and for the first time, there’s some filler.
The van is a lot nicer, but the destination feels unclear.”
Score: 6.5/10.

TUTV: Tons of riff extravaganza but too much on automatic pilot.
