THE STRANGLERS – Debut Single (GET A) GRIP (ON YOURSELF) Released 40 Years Ago…

Timeless in sound and vision.…

THE STRANGLERS, regarded as the ‘old men‘ of punk back then and criticised by the Pistols and Clash focused music press but with more talent and more creativeness than many of the young brats surrounding them at the time, released their steamy, keyboards driven, debut single (GET A) GRIP (ON YOURSELF) on 28 January 197740 years ago. The track, written by frontman Hugh Cornwell (and featuring a Welsh coal miner on saxophone) was included on their debut album RATTUS NORVEGICUS and reached number 44 of the UK singles chart…

Didn’t have the money ’round to buy a Morry Thou
Been around and seen a lot to shake me anyhow
Begged and borrowed, sometimes I admit I even stole
The worse crime that I ever did was play some rock ‘n’ roll

But the money’s no good
Just get a grip on yourself
But the money’s no good
Just get a grip on yourself

Suffering convictions on a two-way stretch inside
The air in here is pretty thin, I think I’ll go outside
Committed for insanity and crimes against the soul
The worst crime that I ever did was play some rock ‘n’ roll

But the money’s no good
Just get a grip on yourself
But the money’s no good
Just get a grip on yourself

And you should know

Now I find from week to week the sentence sticking fast
Turn the corner, rub my eyes and hope the world will last
Stranger from another planet welcome to our hole
Just strap on your guitar and we’ll play some rock ‘n’ roll

But the money’s no good
Just get a grip on yourself
But the money’s no good
Just get a grip on yourself

And you should know

Debut album ‘Rattus Norvegicus’ – released 15 April 1977

Vibes that thrills us in a way we want to scream out loud…

THE POP GROUP have released anti-war song WAR INC. from their latest album HONEYMOON ON MARS – their second LP since the still highly relevant post-punk veterans reformed – as a single in aid of Medecins Sans Frontiers / Doctors Without Borders to help with their incredible work in war zones throughout the world. In 2015 they provided over a million consultations across war torn regions of Asia and Africa,
and also provide nutrition & psychological help to hundreds of thousands of vulnerable, innocent civilians. The protest song was produced by Hank Shocklee, hip-hop wizard of Public Enemy. Here’s the audio clip…

MY EDUCATION Shine With New Monumental Prog-Rock Instrumental…

Fresh electrifying impulses for your ears…

After several line-up changes and albums since their debut in 1999 my education,
the experienced Texan instrumental prog rockers are still alive and kicking. The band
will release new LP Schipol on 3 March. The first shared track OPEN MARRIAGES is
a throbbing roller coaster with a reflective midsection and a hard-driving ending.
A powerfully orchestrated soundscape. Experience the grandeur here…

This is what editor David Fricke of Rolling Stone Magazine said about the band: “This Austin sextet expands on the arc-riff grandeur or local travelers ‘Explosions in the Sky’ with John Cale-like viola and simple, rising melodies that take you way up and out. ‘My Education’ is advanced ecstasy.”

BATZ – Energizing Firework From Down Under…

Vibes that thrills us in a way we want to scream out loud…

Darlin’ by BATZ

High energy Melbourne rockers BATZ just released brand new flashing single DARLIN’.
A loud and clear swipe at all bullies and haters who think they can suppress others…

Frontwoman Christina Aubry said in a press message: “The song is basically about any given situation where another person might think they’re the one with the upper hand and therefore begin to undermine you. ‘Darlin’’ is pretty much about making them realize that you’ve seen through the cockiness and that you are in fact stronger, smarter and overall more powerful than they gave you credit for.”

Electricity from start to finish.
