Texan psychedelic collective THE BLACK ANGELS will launch their fifth album DEATH SONG on 21 April via their new label Partisan Records. In a statement on the label’s website the band gives more info on the new record: “Written and recorded in large part during the recent election cycle, the music on Death Song serves as part protest, part emotional catharsis in a climate dominated by division, anxiety and unease.” After sharing first roller coaster single Currency a few weeks ago, here’s a second track. I’D KILL FOR HER is a haunting song about love leading to violence, pushed by a hypnotizing, recurring riff
and injected with a sticky chorus. Here’s the accompanying, remarkable video clip…

The eccentric Sheffield based band THE MOONLANDINZ with members of controversial gang Fat White Family and the Eccentronic Research Council will release their long-awaited debut album Interplanetary Class Classics, co-produced by Sean Lennon this Friday
(24 March). Today they revealed a third new track from the LP. THIS CITIES UNDONE
is a swirling, spaced out, dancey trip featuring Sean‘s mother YOKO ONO whose far out vocals give this magnetizing song a special, freakish edge. Here’s the spooky groove….

BLONDIE – New Feel Good Track ‘LONG TIME’ Confirms Their Relevant Comeback…

Icon Debbie Harry and BLONDIE are back! The veteran pop punks will release brand new – their eleventh – album POLLINATOR on 5 May featuring a long and impressive guest list with Dev Hynes, Johnny Marr, Laurie Anderson, Charli XCX, Sia, Joan Jett, TV on the Radio’s Dave Sitek and The Strokes’ Nick Valensi. The band already shared two elevating dance crackers, Fun and Monster, from the new LP, proving their comeback is absolutely relevant. And, now, after hearing third new track LONG TIME I even have to admit that their return will be a blessing. Long Time is a feel good rainbow, catchy as hell, brilliantly arranged and richly composed. Blondie will soundtrack many parties this summer… again. Pop gold!

Many artists have covered songs by that highly influential and legendary 60s New York gang THE VELVET UNDERGOUND. One of the best renditions (so far) is by THE KILLS. Jamie Hince‘s squeaky, sharp-edged guitar blues swagger combined with the sultry voice
of charismatic singer Alison Mosshart is just perfect for that mysterious, dark VU sound. The duo recorded their version of PALE BLUE EYES as one of the B-sides for single ‘The Last Goodbye’, a track from their ‘Blood Pressures‘ album (2011). Here’s the gloomy result…

Jamaica’s living reggae legend LEE SCRATCH PERRY (born Rainford Hugh Perry) seems like living forever and ever. Today – 20 March 2017 – the colorful sound wizard celebrates his 81st birthday! The man kickstarted the late Bob Marley‘s successful career and he worked with several artists over the years, from Paul McCartney to The Clash, The Slits, Moby, Animal Collective and so many more. The crazy genius released a countless number of records, both as an artist and producer and his 60s/70s studio innovations were decades ahead of their time. You can hear the true godfather of dub’s influence still today through genres from hip-hop to dubstep. To celebrate the icon’s birthday and to soundtrack this Blue Monday here’s GOLDEN CLOUDS. A smooth and relaxing reggae rainbow he recorded with British ambient duo THE ORB a few years ago…

MARTIN REV, keyboardist from experimental electro duo SUICIDE that made a significant impact, back in the seventies, on alternative music returns with DEMOLTION 9, his first new album in eight years and also the first since the death of his famous Suicide bandmate Alan Vega who passed away last July. It will be out on 26 May via Atlas Realisations and will feature 34 vignettes “yearning for joy and the unattainable perfection of the artistic ideal. The record spans a lifetime’s worth of moods and musings, encompassing fragments of Rev’s varied passions accrued across his nearly half-century long career.” The following two tracks NOW and IN OUR NAME give us an idea of what to expect: dark, electronic, ambient sound explorations. Some mysterious Close Encounters of the Third Kind experiences …
