HISTORY – 28 April 1973 – PINK FLOYD Tops America’s Albums Chart With Eight LP

28 April 2019

Here come some really crazy numbers. Psychedelic icons PINK FLOYD hit the spot of
the US albums chart with their undeniable massive triumph, their eight LP THE DARK
SIDE OF THE MOON
this day 46 years ago, on 28 April 1973, and stayed there for a record-breaking 741 (discontinuous) weeks.

The longplayer has sold so far over 45 million copies on this planet. After moving to the Billboard’s Top Catalog Albums Chart (I never heard of that chart before actually) the album added 759 weeks to its never-ending run, and scored a total of over 1,500 weeks on the combined charts by May 2006. Hallelujah! We have an overwhelming winner!

An here’s that dazzling masterpiece’s masterstroke (again)…
