On 6 December 1968, 51 years ago THE ROLLING STONES released their highly acclaimed ‘BEGGARS BANQUET‘ album. It came out months later than planned because the band’s record label Decca Records refused the cover’s artwork – a toilet wall covered with graffiti – as proposed by the Stones who in turn refused any other image for the LP.
Finally, after months of discussion, the record label won the fight and went
for the stupidest and most uncharacteristic Stones album cover ever…
Eventually, the ‘toilet’ cover was later used for the CD reissue.
