On 4 February 1980, 40 years ago today, New York City’s iconic punks RAMONES released their fifth album END OF THE CENTURY. It was the first LP produced by the legendary and also very eccentric wall-of-sound producer Phil Spector. The group members and Spector had continually quarrels about the roots of the Ramones sound, on the other hand, the band also wanted to have mainstream success, something Spector was an expert in and
he proved it too. ‘End Of The Century‘ is the best-selling Ramones longplayer ever. Reaching #44 in the US and #14 in the UK.
