‘THIS IS MY TRUTH TELL ME YOURS’ – The Only No 1 UK Longplayer (So Far) For The MANICS This Day In 1998

27 September 2020

Welsh emotive rock legends MANIC STREET PREACHERS scored their one and only
No 1 UK album (so far) with the 1998 marvelous feat ‘THIS IS MY TRUTH TELL ME YOURS’, their fifth LP. It topped the Britannia charts starting 27 September 1998.
Twenty-two years ago.

With a little luck, they would have had several chart-topping longplayers as they had no less than five number two scores with Everything Must Go in 1996, Know Your Enemy
in 2001, Send Away The Tigers in 2007, Futurology in 2014, and their latest Resistance
Is Futile
in 2018. Pretty superb for a band that tackled social and all sort of unjust human issues with razor-sharp lyrics and a loud and clear sound. Not exactly birds and bees music for the masses.

James Dean Bradfield about TIMTTMY: “To be universal you’ve got to stain the consciousness of the people. You’ve got to dig out a truth that everybody knows, but they don’t want to hear, then tell it in a manner that’s so indignant, so beautiful, that they’ve got to accept it back into their lives again.”

Pitchfork about TIMTTMY : “They manage to infuse some quite dour lyrics with some of the most haunting melodies in rock this side of Radiohead. Bradfield and Moore seldom choose the obvious chords, arrangements and melodies, resulting in music that is heads- and- tails above almost any band on the planet.”

Charge Your Batteries With Feel-Good Single ‘SUNDAY FINE’ By RADIO ROMANCE

Relaxing vibes for the laziest day of the week…

27 September 2020

Nashville’s RADIO ROMANCE is a Country Music Group out of Nashville, TN. The band formed in 2017 and spoil your ears with upbeat, harmonic, and hook-friendly songs influenced by acts like Alabama , Eric Church , and Jason Aldean.

Their brand-new uplifting song SUNDAY FINE comes just in time. 2020 is a memorable year, but for the wrong reasons. That vicious coronavirus turned our way of life into a science-fiction-like movie. Lockdown, isolation, moth masks and about 1 million victims worldwide.

I agree with Radio Romance when they say that “you have to recharge your batteries first before you can tackle the world or help someone else out. So, sit down, watch the wind blow by, and start feeling Sunday Fine.” Give your confused state of mind a break with this feel-good, rainbow-colored song, with its fetching hope for the future harmonies and its electric Eric Clapton like solo booster. Time to relax and reflect, time to look forward

So like the sun droppin’, my whicker chair rockin’0
Watching the wind blow by, getting lost in her angel eyes
Feeling Sunday Fine

Enjoy here…

New Ace Album ‘WHAT YOU GONNA DO WHEN THE GRID GOES DOWN’ By Rap Icons PUBLIC ENEMY

26 September 2020

Band: Public Enemy
Album: What You Gonna Do When The Grid Goes Down? – 15th LP
with a long cast of guests: Cypress Hill, Mike D & Ad Rock, Run DMC, Nas,
Rhapsody, Ice-T, James Bomb, and more.
Released: 25 September 2020

NME says: Still bringing the noise after being in the game for over 30 years, this album is Public Enemy’s best effort since 1998’s ‘He Got Game’. Continuing to hold leaders accountable in a time when it’s truly needed, the group’s fearless expressions of truth sound right at home pinned to a jet-fuelled backdrop of rip-roaring beats that hammer your eardrums and capture everything hip-hop should stand for.” – Full review here. Score: 4/5.

Chuck D.: “My battle is with Trump – to look at this guy that I’ve known since the early ‘80s. I’m from New York and I’ve seen all his bullshit and the mind games that he’s played on the country and the world. He’s just got to go. Fuck waiting ‘til November. We’re trying to Nixonise this guy. We’re trying to get him to step down quick now. If the world can’t stand him and half the country can’t stand him, then why is he there?”

Five Firecrackers To STAY ON TRACK IN THE WEEKEND!

26 September / 27 September 2020

Five new firecrackers to bang-up your favorite 48 hours…

‘Blind Youth Industrial Park’ by METZ (Toronto)
Another clamorous knockout you need a police permit for to play it when your neighbors are at home. Rumour goes that the Richter scale collapsed when the Canadian three-piece recorded this haymaker. Their new longplayer Atlas Vending hit the streets on 9 October .

‘What Are Friends For?’ by THE SONDER BOMBS (Cleveland, Ohio)
New label for the UK/EU and new single for this rollicking 4-piece. “From the very beginning we knew this was a song that we wanted people to shake their butts too! I was dancing my heart out while tracking vocals for this one and I think that hype energy really came through in the final product” says frontwoman Willow Hawks about the new ripper. She’s definitely right.
It’s steamy, electrifying, swirling, and big fun! Get it now via Big Scary Monsters.

.
‘Eletric War‘ by OSEES (Rhode Island, US)
Now I’m totally sure. John Dwyer never sleeps, he’s a 24/7 music-making maniac. Last week Osees‘ new LP Protean Threat came out and Dwyer already drops a new red-hot-blooded jackhammer from an upcoming EP. The man says: “People need some tunes right now and I think the artists community is making a good run of it. So much great shit is seeing light right now.” Thank you, John!

‘Hear Me Out’ by PIXIES
“All I’m trying to say is it’s alright” sings bassist Kim Deal, oh sorry… Paz Lenchantin. The glimmering guitar-driven pop song is actually from the sessions for their 2019 album ‘Beneath The Eyrie . It will be on a 12″ vinyl single, out October 16, with also a cover of T-Rex’s ‘Mambo Sun‘.

‘Ghosts’ by BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN
The Boss who turned 71 yesterday and was born to run
still dances in the dark. His new album Letter To You is out on 23rd October.

See/hear you next week, music junkies…

Happy 75 To BRYAN FERRY

26 September 2020

The frontman, singer/songwriter and full-time playboy BRYAN FERRY of brilliant art/glam rockers Roxy Music (formed in 1970) celebrates his 75th birthday today. He was born on 26 September 1945 in Washington, County Durham, England.

Together with Brian Eno, he was Roxy‘s famous face. Also a smart dressed Casanova and dandy who had some much-publicized relationships with gorgeous models (like Jerry Hall), glamorous actresses, and jet-set pinups. He disbanded Roxy Music in 1982 and – started (already when he was still a member, in 1976) a very successful solo career.

To celebrate the star’s 75th birthday Turn Up The Volume‘s three timeless classics

– LET’S STICK TOGETHER –
