Another Triumph For ADAM GRANDUCIEL And THE WAR ON DRUGS With 4th LP

29 October 2021

Band: THE WAR ON DRUGS (Philadelphia)
Adam Granduciel‘s highly successful band
Active: Since 2005 / 4 studio albums

New album: I DON’T LIVE HERE ANYMORE
Info: “An uncommon rock album about one of
our most common but daunting processes,
resilience in the face of despair.”

Released: 29 October 2021
Order info: here

NME says: “It’s a soul-stirring epic. Frontman Adam Granduciel has never bought
into the mythology that comes with rock stardom, but this is a triumphant ode to his
genre… Some lose sight of their heart and soul on the route to global stardom, others
take it in their stride. Granduciel recently told NME that “music should be filled with
wonder”, and there’s magic everywhere you look on this triumph of an album.”

Full review here. Score: 5/5.

Turn Up The Volume: I never thought The War On Drugs would have become
the megaband they’re now. But I can understand why. Adam Granduciel is a
master when it comes to writing accessible guitar pop tunes about life in all its
facets. His heart and soul touching mix of romanticism, moodiness, and spirituality
appeals to millions. Respect! And it helps when you’re the opposite of a spoiled
rock star.

WILCO – Stonesesque ‘BEING THERE’ Album Released 25 Years Ago

Back in time

29 October 2021

Band: WILCO (Chicago)
Who: Singer-songwriter Jeff Tweedy‘s combo
Active: Since 1994 / 11 LPs so far

Anniversary album: BEING THERE 2nd LP
Released: 29 October 1996 – 25 years ago today

AllMusic wrote; “Being There’s 19 tracks are individually outstanding, and taken
together, they add up to a three-way cross between Neil Young’s Harvest, the Rolling
Stones’ Exile on Main St., and Big Star’s 3rd that still leaves room for some impressive
tricks of its own. If Being There isn’t Wilco’s best album, it’s the one that staked their
claim as an important American band, and it’s a rich, dazzling experience from
beginning to end.”
Full review here. Score: 4.5/5.

Turn Up The Volume: First big Wilco triumph, several to follow.

The Return Of KASABIAN – Hear The New Steaming Single ‘ALYGATYR’

Daily electricity to load your batteries

28 October 2021

Band: KASABIAN
Who: Firm Leicester (UK) rockers
Active: Since 1997 / 6 studio LPs so far

New single: ALYGATYR
A new album is planned for 2022

In July 2020, the news came that charismatic frontman Tom Meighan
had left the band by mutual consent due after being accused and convicted
(he pleaded guilty) following assaulting his ex-fiancée with their child present.

The 4-piece has decided to go on, with songwriter Serge Pizzorno as the main
vocalist (he already sung songs, now and then, on albums in the past). The first
track they unveil is a steaming stomper called ALYGATYR (no idea what it means).
Anyway, Kasabian is back and are gearing up for a UK tour.

Turn it up, folks…

Electrovaganza With Massive 44-Track Compilation ‘POST-PUNK (GENESIS)

28 October 2021

Album: POST-PUNK (GENESIS)
Released: 9 September 2021

What: A massive, international 44-track compilation
orchestrated by web magazine SIDE-LINE

Side-Line started in 1989 as a print magazine for electro/industrial music.
In 1999 it also went online at http://www.side-line.com to provide a daily
news service. They reach around 65.000 music fans per day via our various
online properties.

About the compilation: “After much demand from fans and bands, we decided
to compile a Post-Punk compilation, called “Post-Punk (Genesis)”, uniting Post-Punk
artists from all over the world. We were honestly quite surprised by the number of
submissions we received, 1564 in total. 44 bands were then invited to be part of the
compilation itself. You’ll get an eclectic collection of all of the colors you can find
inside the Post-Punk scene, from pure New Wave to contemporary mixes of Post
Punk and electronics. There will be something for everyone!”

Turn Up The Volume: Fan of electronic music? Then this massive 24-hour party compilation should be yours. I’m sure thousands of synth-pop-and-post-punk addicts
already dance their tails off with this mammoth record blasting out of their shivering speakers. But for all the other dance fanatics, here’s your opportunity to go gaga too. Booms, beats, bangers. It’s all there. It’s orgasmic electrovaganza. It’s elevating ecstasy.
It’s fabtronic fun.

Post-Punk (Genesis) is available ‘for free or as a pay-what-you-want download
release. All proceedings will go to the various charities’ supported by Side-Line.

BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN Plays Affecting Acoustic Version Of ‘THE RIVER’ On American TV

µ

The Boss was born to run 72 years ago and he’s still running.
He’s one of those music addicts that will record/play until their
last breath. No retirement for Bruce.

A couple of days ago he was the main guest on
the American Late Show with Stephen Colbert.

He played a, both tender and affecting, acoustic
version of the title track of his 1980 album The River.
