Country Rock Heroes EAGLES Released Their Self-Titled Debut LP 50 Years Ago

Los Angeles‘ global country-rock heroes EAGLES started a jumbo career with their self-titled debut LP, released 50 years ago tomorrow, on 1st June 1972. It was recorded in London. The production cost was $125,000. The Eagles line-up back then: Glenn Frey (guitar, vocals), Don Henley (drummer/vocals), Bernie Leadon (guitar, vocals), and Randy Meisner (bass, vocals).

The longplayer was an immediate success for the young amigos, peaking at #22 in the US, but going platinum over the years. The LP was ranked number 368 in the 2012 edition of Rolling Stone Magazine‘s list of the 500 greatest albums of all time, despite the fact they only gave a lukewarm 3-star review when it came out.
