Creepy metal junks SLIPKNOT from Iowa, throw a new lonplayer,
baptized THE END SO FAR at the world’s face on 30 September.
Following The Dying Song (Time To Sing) comes a second taster
named YEN. Partly a, yes, charged-up pop song, partly vintage Slipknot roar.
A couple of weeks ago they shared new piece YEN. A slow-ticking
time bomb that detonates a couple of times. Do I hear a melody
in there? Yes, the Slipknot way.
As the knife goes in, cut across my skin, when my death begins
I wanna know that I was dying for you, I died for you

Press info: Freakout/Release is another dizzying high in a multi-decade career that’s
seen Hot Chip continuing to innovate and develop a rich, resonant songcraft. And while they continue to operate at peak form, the album also feels like a new chapter for the group – a collection of flesh-and-blood songs that finds the band reaching into the darkness to emerge
as a true creative unit, their gazes fixed positively on the future ahead. The album features Canadian rapper Cadence Weapon, British DJ and musician Lou Hayter and production work from Soulwax.
MOJO Mag: “A mix of pulsing, oven-ready bangers and darker reflections, Freakout/Release exudes the confidence of a band operating at its giddy peak.” Score: 4/5.
TUTV: Hot Chip do what they do best, making records with tickling tunes, sugary synth ditties, whistle-along melodies, funky beats, but this time also moody lullabies for moody moments in these moody times. Summer isn’t over yet as long as you spin this mixed emotions Freakout/Release melting pot at your forthcoming cocktail gatherings.

Band: MODERN WOMAN Who: London-based act that began as the songwriting project of Sophie Harris.
The band’s music, still based around Harris’ songwriting, explores a diverse range
of sounds drawing from their melting pot of influences.
Following their splendid 2021 debut EP Dogs Fight In My Dream these up-and-coming gunslingers score again with their new sassy bass/drums motorized and guitar-spiced stunner, extra energized with Sophie Harris‘s clear-cut vocals and a schizo finish. They should get the same attention as Liverpool‘s sensation The Mysterines. NOW!

Band: SLIM WRIST Who: Edinburgh (Scotland) duo that
makes leftfield electronic pop music.
Single: DETAILS
From forthcoming album, Closer For Comforting, out September 9th.
An ongoing vocal echo haunts you from the start to the end,
floating over a mid-tempo rotating electro riff and a bouncy bass
hook. Intriguing and affecting. Vibrant vibe with a kooky twist.
Expect electrical fireworks and high-intensity vocals from the get-go. If you would hear this solid-gold belter blasting out of a passing car’s stereo you would jump in your own vehicle and follow that car full speed, beg him to stop, and beg him to play Radio Wires again and again, but louder.
Think the Beach Boys after a rejuvenation cure contributing their summer score
with a harmonies-flavored and 6-strings-fueled pop stomper. Summer is only
over when this ride is over.
Band: TWIN RITUAL Who: Outfit from San Diego, CA which formed in 2016. They expertly mix
elements of post-punk and synth-pop with catchy hooks, thick bass lines
and dreamy female vocals
Room-filling pop splendor with sky-reaching vocals on the catchy chorus
and trippy guitar vivacity. A fizzy bliss that triggers you irresistibly to push
the repeat button.
Despite the track’s title, there’s nothing fragile about the high-rise vocal
explosiveness, the jangly guitar electricity, and the non-stop pushing
drum-bass tandem that overwhelms you here on the spot. Don’t miss the sonic tension.
Waves of blistering guitars infiltrate your greedy ears all the way, while a persistent drum/bass beat activates your feet’s movements and makes your head spin. And when
the flamboyant chorus pops up with a fervent flair and a full emo-driven vocal you know
you will not want to say goodbye to this banging booster.

Band: YAZOO Who: British shiny synth-pop duo with Depeche Mode‘s
co-founder Vince Clarke and supreme voice Alison Moyet. Active: 1981–1983, 2008-2011 / 2 LPs
Anniversary album: UPSTAIRS AT ERIC’S Released: 20 August 1982 – debut LP Charts: #2 in the UK
Melody Maker said: “An album of rich, dark passion, forever
burying the hoary old moan that electronics and synthesizers
will never be any good because they don’t have a button on
the front that says ’emotion'”.
R & B rapper MEAGN THEE STALLION (born Megan Jovon Ruth Pete,
27 years ago) launched her second album, named TRAUMAZINE
10 days ago.
Rolling Stone said: “On her new album, the rap superstar comes up with
just the right balance of slick bops and searing confessionals. Traumazine is
a thrill ride of a listen, a motley mix of slick bops and searing confessionals
that wonderfully encapsulate all of her various vibes.” Score: 4/5.
For HER, one of the LP’s highlights she has a new
video out. Another hip-swaying groove clip.
Last May British mega hypeWET LEG from the Isle of Wight confirmed their
press-given status of new guitar-pop queens with their self-titled debut LP.
A sparkling collection of sickly addictive tunes with witty, absurd, and hilarious stories.
Yesterday night I saw them play live for the first time. It happened at the (always) fantastic 4-day Pukkelpop Festival in Belgium. What a sweaty-stimulating-spirited- sensational show it was. With the volume way up (compared to the album’s sweet sound) the packed-as-sardines tent went berserk.
The two wet legs, Rhian Teasdale and Hester Chambers, just like the word-by-word singing/swinging along crowd, couldn’t care less about the sauna temperature. It was
pure rhapsody. Man, oh, man life can be so over-the-top-fun at times. And that’s what
we ALL felt last night., over the top.

Their performance of their super striking stroke Chaise Lounge at this year’s Glastonbury festival will give you and idea about what thousands and I experienced yesterday night.
Artist: EVNTYD (pronounced ‘eventide’) Who: The musical project of Julián Berdegué, an Austin, Texas-based artist who set out at the beginning of the pandemic to create a body of work all by himself, eliminating the need to rely on others and ultimately creating the music he had been hearing in his head for years.
Berdegué: “I wrote “Hard On Us” to openly acknowledge that I can be a little too hard on myself and those I surround myself with. My expectations for what I and others can accomplish are sky high, and I’m well aware that that level of intensity doesn’t suit everyone. The last thing I want is for my friends to feel like they too need to have lofty aspirations in order to meet some criteria of mine.”
The jingly sparks on this glossy pop ditty resonate as The War On Drugs
and Clap Your Hands Say Yeah‘s voltaic luminosity. Mellow and melodious.
Refreshing and riveting.
