Band: YOUTH SECTOR
Who: An indie team from Brighton, UK (sometimes I wonder if there are
any citizens over there who are not in band) Their music is a coiled spring
of urgency and unpredictable energy; while lyrically offering a sense of
catharsis for the confusion of modern adult life. So far they released
several singles and a couple of EPs.
New single: BENIGN FIRE IN A SMALL ROOM
The third shared track from their upcoming 5-track EP,
named Quarrels. Out 16 June. Pre-order info here.
About the EP: “We recorded Quarrels in Leeds which is quickly becoming
a bit of a second hometown for us. Alongside our amazing friend and artist
Annie Mackinnon, who did all the artwork, we settled on the medieval theme
for the artwork/EP title. It felt appropriate because the themes of the EP songs
portray such a regressive, post-Brexit reflection of British life and society that
at this moment in time it can feel a little like we’ve moved backwards to a very
hostile, brutal country that’s totally out of step with modern aspirations.”
TUTV about the single: One listen and I was hooked. This new stupendous cut
circles around a magnetic melody enlivened with a buzzy reverberation, with a
glorious chorus with glistening guitar lines reminiscent of Interpol‘s Daniel Kessler
radiant play, with a solid bass/drum duo, with shiny synth sequences and singer
Nick Tompkins‘s vocals getting more on fire along the way. Scintillating score!
Watch/listen.
All three shared tracks here on Bandcamp.
